Kids and cell phones

I think it depends on the family dynamics. My 8yo has a cell phone. It belonged to my oldest(21) and when she got her own plan we had an extra line on our plan and did not want to pay the cancellation fee. When the older 3 (now 21,20&16) were 8 we used walkie talkies to keep in touch when they were out riding bikes etc. That was an option but the cell is much more reliable and affordable at this point. DYK...perhaps you could find a sitter to help out if Jay is out of town a lot?? It's a pain to find someone, but could be worth it? ...I am having one of those weeks where I feel like we are crap parents?? Sorry for not being clear. yes I meant holding him back to repeat 1st grade due to emotional immaturity. Our current school, from what I see, only holds back if there is an academic reason, and they do it in K or 1st. From what I see of the math program there, eNvisions, it is a little behind Everyday Math - but just a little. They are both "new math" programs. Bryce's basket will be filled with suckers, and a movie.? Steven's will have chocolate?, clearasil pads (just kidding) and a new book. I no longer go overboard with the baskets.? They ended up being filled with crap they never used that cluttered up the house.? I also do not buy them fancy outfits because getting them to wear them takes an act of congress.

I have everything bought for them (sugary fun candy) except the chocolate bunny - which I buy from my favorite special local candy shop?-?but I don't pick up until right before Easter. The boys are chocoholics and kind of chocolate snobs LOL? But that's probably my fault b/c I found when I put cheap chocolate in the baskets it always went to waste - but they don't waste the good stuff from Aunt Charlottes! No toys this year...

Michelle - Hannah cracks me up!
Hayden just had his ckup on Monday ... 62lbs and 50.5 inches tall. He wears an 8 jeans, shirt size varies wildly (but mostly 8's or boys small), and sneakers are a 3-3.5.
That all important chart I've always hated said he was 50th% for both height & weight. He grew 2.25 inches and gained 5lbs since his last visit.
