Having a separate /home is a better, I don't need to make a backup of my files when reinstalling, then restore all of that again, bear in mind that some /home contain 100's of GB of data, I wouldn't like spending the time moving stuff back and forth. And I use ext4.

DVD menus do not work with phonon-gstreamer yet, you need phonon-xine for them. Phonon-gstreamer will become the favoured choice, it just isn't there yet. Which leaves us in a lovely mess as the two dev camps obviously don't cooperate properly. _________________ Its a four letter word, it ruins system speed, you might get sued for installing it and it is generally removing it is the answer to most problems. I read that one... as I was suspecting, is a screw up on this one. On 2008 edition worked like a champ. But on dual systems had to be paired every time, no because of Mandriva, just the nature of the Bluetooth Beast. One way to fix it i using a wireless keyboard and mouse (non bluetooth) and you do not need to pair up. I have Gyration Keyboard and Mouse and works great with my AMD64, just, this rig is not dual booth and I could use the...

Updating for updating sake isn't logical, updates are pushed when there's a need for them. Also notice that just because you don't receive updates doesn't mean there're no updates, just that there're no updates for the packages installed on your system.

Use mandriva-seed-windows.zip available on all Mandriva mirrors, e.g. ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.mandriva.com/Mandriv aLinux/official/iso/2010.0/
The Mandriva iso's are hybrid, they should work with mandriva-seed.

I agree with some of point 4, however, Mandriva is and hopefully always will be a desktop agnostic distro, so the control centre must stay as is.
Yes they could re write is to qt, but what would be the point? It would suit KDE users and piss Gnome, Moblin, XFCE and LXDE users off.
There has already been a huge discussion off this, including a re write to python, and while the code could...

You can access a disk partitioner through the Mandriva Control Centre
(MCC -> local disks -> Manage disk partitions)
It would be possible to shrink the Windows partition here, and only at a minimum that protects you from overwriting XP (though you'll want some free space beyond this). What, after doing this - if i'm imagining things correctly - you'll be left with is free space between ...

It isn't much consolation, but you are not alone in feeling the loss of all the great things that worked in KDE3.5 and either are missing or strangely incomplete in KDE4.
I suggest you do what I am doing. All of my main working machines are still running the best Mandriva distribution ever; 2008.1. I have a disk on one machine set aside for trying out the the latest offering (I skipped ...
