Snow Leopard + Logic 9 behavior?
Published (2009-11-07 10:48:00)
I haven’t had any problems with Spectre on 10.5. Haven’t really tired it much on 10.6 but Logic 9 and 10.6 work very well together. I’m really excited to see where it will be taking us next.

Spectrasonics Trillian due today

Yes it works fine for me in 9.0.2 on the Leopard.5.8. Only got to spend 25 minutes after install but it was flawless .

Logic Pro OCD
Published (2009-11-05 12:26:00)
I have this obsession when it comes to quantization of MIDI and saving projects. Once I've programmed a beat, sequence etc I always use the quantize tool in the piano roll even if the notes are already on-beat. I do this a lot especially when I add new elements I'll select all the regions and use the quantize tool in the piano roll. I also have sticky trigger fingers when it comes to saving. Is this normal?

Crazy Aussie Pricing
Published (2009-11-03 18:41:00)
I must admit to being surprised at the tower prices when last I looked. My last tower a MDD G4, as a result of a fairly mobile working life have made do with laptops since then. I think at the last time I checked a fully optioned Mac Pro in Australia worked out to about $30,000!

key command for track level?

I don't think you can, not with key commands directly. From your recent key command questions, it sounds like you should really look into a control surface. That would certainly help you on your direct-button-control-quest. You could also look into some kind of systemwide shortcuts, outside Logic, and then use a key-to-midi tool translating key strokes to midi, and then set your operations up as control surface commands in Logic.

I was about to cover AdrenaLinn Sync on the front page. It's a new software version of the Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn III mod and filter looping box. But I stopped when I discovered that it's a $99 plug-in based on the Pluggo engine, in October of 2009, five months after the Cycling '74 announcement which sent responsible developers scrambling for a new solution. I am a huge fan of Roger ...

I'm using Tritone Digital's Angeltone and ColorTone Pro in SL 10.6.0, and they've been working better than in Tiger or Leopard. I did not do a clean install (upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, then to SL), which may make no difference, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I'm not currently using any free pluggo-based plugins. If you have any in mind that you'd like for me to try, I'll be happy to ...

In the music game everyone points the finger at the middle man... "It's the distributors, mate. We make 3% on a retail sale, they make 30% on the wholesale...etc" then on to arcane topics such as territorial licensing and such. Who was that free market free for again? M'self I'm waiting til I'm in the US in a couple of weeks to pick up Apple and Canon gear...

I don't recognize it (I pretty much know Logic and AULab), but the article doesn't say anything about him using the AU version of their plugins. Wave Arts make them in all formats, so it could be anything.

lol! I am imagining a studio full of musicians at $500 and hour, multi-mic set ups, singer taking multiple passes at the chorus to be comp'd later, and then the producer says, 'What, no grape-flavored GUI and Wackel Generator? Protools is indeed dead"! I assume/hope this (the thread title) was ' tongue in cheek' Otherwise, as a new? experimental creative tool I would like to know more

Try reinstalling the driver? I dunno. In my experience Berhinger is absolute trash. Especially one you can buy for $30. I’d return it and get your money back. If you have a modern TV it can accept the optical output of your mac mini easily.

Have you tried a utility program like Cocktail or Onyx? Cocktail seems to fix occasional oddities on my system (but not all of them). It seems possible that the Finder preferences are corrupt. You might try trashing them. Doing so, I think that you would also loose sidebar customization, etc. Let us know when you find a solution.
