Í'm not sure about what most opticals are, SATA-I or II (I think it's I), but you need one that is SATA-I compatible, since your board can only hadnle SATA-I devices.

What was up back when?

1989: A gang of motherboard consultants from Taiwan helped Intel out with the 486 processor, and started a career as motherboard manufacturers. Six months was the period between first public release of a new processor until the motherboard makers got a sample of the processor. Facts from an ad I got today.

Hello and welcome, Well with one search i found one few review of the board and a pretty short one : http://www.technotalks.com/reviews/msi-lets-out-th e-nf980-g65-motherboard/ Beware at unlocking the extra core, this might cause stabilty issues, errors and other odd behaviour. This can be due to flaws in the 3th or 4th core, one of the reasons its turned off. You might get lucky ...

Yes, sad but not surprising. However, if true it is shameful antics on Nvidia's part. I hope MSI isn't culpable as well. I will keep an eye on this one. Thanks, raisethe3.

Attach USB floppy , format an diskette and rename BIOS file A1674IMS.xxx to A1674IMS.ROM, then copy A1674IMS.ROM to blank diskette. Then: * Remove AC power cord and battery. * A1674IMS.ROM is the correct name, must be placed at USB floppy "\" at root dir. You always clear CMOS without having to re-flash the BIOS again. A CMOS Clear affects the CMOS Memory only, not the data on the BIOS Chip. Just make sure that the PSU is unplugged from A/C power when you press the CMOS Clear Button. Also, please provide full system specs. Read the >>Posting Guide<< first.

Prime95 is, as it is designed to be, highly stressful on memory. Therefore, from the sound of it I would suspect the memory. From the cut sheet it appears as though these modules are overclocked 1066 modules. Have you tried with the "factory tested settings of 7-7-7-20 @ 1066? I'm sure you noticed the fine print disclaimer at the bottom of the data sheet. "Every part is tested in ...

The boards are of good quality. What you see on the net is just that handful of people who are having bad luck ending up with a defective board. When producing as much as MSI does, it's logical to find many who have problems. But do note that the huge majority does not have any trouble running MSI's boards. If you sart looking for bad experiences on any brand's hardware, you can find ...

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/ati-hy brid-graphics/Pages/ati- hybrid-graphics.aspx However, I would go for the ATI, as it has a better picture quality. I wouldn't go Hybrid, better get a faster videocard.

Unplug your PSU from A/C power, remove the CMOS Battery completely, push the power-on button a few times to drain capacitors and let the system rest in completely power-less state for a few minutes. Also, press the Clear CMOS Button for a few seconds. Then put the CMOS Battery back in and try to start your system.
