Another valid reason not to do this - it means your applications need to run with administrative authority. This means any malicious application has full control over the WMQ estate. You may not consider this a serious risk. Whoever does security for your client sites may have a different view, and might refuse such access. _________________ Never assume you know everything. I'd suspect that 7.0.1 has contemplated the race among the MI software and NFS file locks. _________________ Times flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

UTF 16 Chinese Characters
Published (2009-11-26 13:27:00)
The encoding has nothing to do with CCSID 819. What is suspect is that the translation flag on the MQInput node is the culprit. Also you should not set the MQInput node to translate as it will give you the text formated message in the CCSID of the qmgr (819?). This will drive you to content loss as there is no character representation in CCSID 819 for Chinese character coded in CCSID 1200. Let the broker do any translation as needed and make...

MQCTL on MQv7.0.1
Published (2009-11-25 17:54:00)
In a new implementation, no hassle. If you need a new Highly Available QM I think Multi Instance technology gets the first look over traditional H.A. solutions. Its easier to say all new clients to this new QM will be MQ 7.0.1 or better. But if you are talking about upgrading an existing QM up to MQ 7.0.1 in a mature environment it will be quite a while before every connecting QM and every MQ Client is upgraded to MQ 7.0.1. We plan on sticking...

The race I was talking about was between NFS file locks being released (thus allowing the standby qmgr to start) and the completion of a switchover of virtual IP addresses. If the file locks are released first, it is possible for the queue manager and its outbound channels and listeners to start, binding to an adapter that is about to be altered. Whether this could ever be a seamless process I doubt. But I admit I do not know for sure. This...

First, make sure that you fulfill the installation requirements for DB2: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.qb.server.doc/doc/r0006867.html Alternatively, if you can hold off until a trial of WMB v7 is made available, you won't need to install DB2 at all.

Long running transactions are transactions that take quite some time between begin and commit/rollback.
Push the problem of identification back to the applications team.
You may also increase the number of primary / secondary logs (providing you do have the space...)
If you need to increase the log size you will have to delete and rebuild the qmgr.
Have fun ...

- Check the event log to see why these services don't start
- Ensure you're on the latest maintenance of WMQv6
It's possible to have the queue manager start a batch file to check these, but then if something's preventing the queue manager starting these services (or preventing it attempting to start these services) then the same problem could affect this batch file. ...

Are you saying that this slow-down only occurs during times of low transaction volume?
How many CLNTCONN entries are in your client channel table?
Anything interesting or relevant in the MQ error logs on BOTH client and server? _________________ Times flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
