I'm not sure why but I got the strange urge to remove the glass in my car. Its probably going to mean the car will be out of commission for a while longer but oh well, its not like I'll be getting my license any time soon so I might as well do this while I'm still painting the car. Wish me luck.

Alex, as stated the last time you were looking to improve the paint, don't knock yourself out. You have a significant amount a rust starting to show and will eventually need to deal with that repaint the car. Anyplace the cancer is spreading under the paint (we call it running under the paint) are areas that will get worse unless that paint is removed and those areas allowed to dry. it may look worse temporarily, but the alternative is...

Some of this is rehashing what Phil said. Does the paint job have a lot of orange peel that you're hoping to sand flat, or is it just that it has dulled over the years and you want to bring back the shine? If it's orange peel you want to get rid of, then you have to wet sand, but do so at your own risk! Especially if you're not experienced at doing it, it's almost certain that you will get some sandthroughs. Then, after you...
