I've recently re-watched "White Rabbit" (Fantastic episode, BTW. One of my early favorites) and when Jack is chasing Chrisitan in the jungle, you can actually hear Smokey's sounds. There's also the Smoke detector in "Something Nice Back Home" to consider, and the wisp of Smoke in "Namaste." I'm pretty sure Chrisitan IS Smokey, but he might be something else entirely....

I think the sonic fence was designed with Smokie in mind. What strikes me most is who would go to such a circuitous length to keep out people/animals (well, besides Radzsinky ). I mean, if it was really those, I'd have surrounded the Barracks with a concrete wall and a ton of barbed wire, and lots of armed guards; and landmines to boot since that was the fashionable thing to do in that day and age. But no, it *had* to be a sonic...

That's very neat... and I like it that Best Buy is encouraging and promoting Lost. The ad also says (in very tiny print) that quantities are limited... 4 blu-ray discs and 34 DVDs per store. Has there ever been a " Bonus Disc" that's exclusive to one store before? I was planning on buying Season 5 at Target... but now I'll probably switch to Best Buy... and not just for the bonus ...

^ exactly, it doesnt make sense for him to be the real Locke i dont see how anyone can believe it. I mean dont get me wrong Locke was my favourite character, and i was and still am gutted that he's dead but he is and theres nothing on the show atm to prove otherwise (and i hope for the sake of the story there wont be, if he stays dead its just brilliant yet sad writing). hopefully ...

I was convinced MIB couldn't be Smokey for this reason until a poster in another forum pointed something out.
The monster manifested several drug runners AT THE SAME TIME to Mr Eko. If it could do this then it no big stretch to consider that it/he whatever could also manifest as both Christian and Locke at the same time too, even if in different places.

Excellent question.
I'd say it's a mixture of being the first unburied body to show up on the island, possibly for quite some time. It's also because of his importance to Jack, who will probably be a major player in the events to come. I've also always thought it's possible Chrisitan might have been on the island before.

I would say that Malkin was not a real psychic. Rather, whatever force on this island wants Claire and Aaron to be together (possibly Jacob?) or whatever force wanted her to come to the island gave Malkin a moment of actual "supernatural" insight.
