That certainly does sound like Locke! Locke is a
spiritual leader, a guru and he has been reincarnated in way, because his body is alive but is being used by another being. Which explains why Locke picked the wrong items when Richard visited him, because he's not going to be reincarnated as himself. I also like the bit about Buddhism and a religous grup you mentioned.
