Writing self replicating program

Code: #define SOURCE_NAME ("foo.c") #include <stdio.h> int main(){ char cmdline[54]; int c = 0; while(c < 64){ sprintf(cmdline, "gcc -O2 %s -o p%d", c); system(cmdline); c++; } } will make 64 copies of it self. it has to compile itself because you cannot copy a running executable in *nix. one more thing, change foo.c to the actually name.

To @ yasirimteyaz and @ joelits : I never did it that way, but installed otcl, tclcl, ns, nam to /usr/local/ , just by doing # 'make install' after 'cd' into each of those. ( Please see post # 6.) Installs 18 ( small ) files in /usr/local/. cd /usr/local/bin/ # strip * ( or sudo strip * , if Ubuntu.) .. makes ns , nam smaller. Some times it is possible to use the system tcl / tk . I've tried QGIS and GRASS for working with maps, though never used them in
an academic context - but I know people who have. I've also had success
running the Windows version of Igor Pro on Wine.

can you post the dmesg output after you plug in the usb drive? Just to see
what it outputs and give us a starting point.

No, you shouldn't be worried.
You can do pretty much anything in a language like C that you can in assembler, so assembler isn't any more "dangerous".
It is a bit easier to have a crash in assembler language programs. There are classes of errors that you wouldn't have in a higher level language, such as stack errors. But on a modern operating system, a failure in a user space program ...

Probably the easiest thing to do, in my view ('cause this is what I would do), is to boot Ubuntu (your master Linux installation).
Mount the Fedora partition. Open Fedora's /boot/grub/menu.lst (or grub.conf if that's what Fedora uses) and copy the grub menu entry: should be 3 or 4 lines giving the menu name, kernel, and initrd lines.
Close that file, then open Ubuntu's /boot/grub/menu....

I am sorry but your question doesn't appear to be clear. Are you referring
to the first boot device configuration ? If yes, then you need to modify it
in the BIOS settings by pressing Del/F2/F10 etc or a specific key as per
your motherboard.

Hello,
As far as I know you cannot use nor install the versions other then those from IBM. There is no download available from Sun (or others) for AIX.
It seems that the most recent version available for AIX is 1.4.2. Have a look at these websites:
AIX Download and service information
Installing IBM JRE
Kind regards,

I personally don't think swine flu is any worse than normal flu.
I've got a couple friends who've had it, I may have had it, everyone says it's just like having a bad cold.

Because, Slackware installer doesn't check if the package selection that you made has no dependency issues, so if you remove packages you may remove something that you don't have to remove.
Also, when you ask about things in the forums, it's always good to have a full installation, because it makes life easier for the ones that are about to answer you - they know that the issue isn't because ...

You have covered reading input and checking the responses

It is sad and I will never understand how a person can go into a crowd and kill so many innocent people that are not going to help his cause. I do not no what made the man snap but I am almost sure shooting all those people did not help his cause.

A laser printer will generally be faster and cheaper per page than an inkjet. But the laser printer will cost more to begin with, and when the toner does run out replacing it will be expensive.
Quality will I think depend more on the individual printer, you should search for reviews.
http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi will list printers that are and aren't Linux-compatible.

Your approach should work fine and you are definitely on the right track; however, I would propose that instead of installing the software directly (via 'make install'), you should consider building a Slackware package and installing that. Installing with a SW package is generally not much more difficult, and it makes system maintenance easier in the long run (you will know what packages are ...
