I had not heard of any key with a code like another, all PATS keys should have a unique code. That would not be good if places can copy the code of the key. FYI, the PATS works like this; The PCM and PATS module both are a set that work with only the programmed keys. The PATS module records the identity of the PCM, and the key codes. You cannot change any of them without the special tool which Ford dealers have. The PATS module can store up to...

What is it that you want to know? Basically we like tech type threads to be posted in the appropriate year and model forum so others with your same year and model can benefit from reading the thread. Also, many Members that frequent the tech forums do not come to the lounge. The lounge is sort of the catch all; we BS here, tell jokes, and frequently post tech questions about non-Lincoln vehicles here. If a moderator moves your post, it is only...

If the system operates as advertised and that's what you say
and
You hear the compressor run and continues to run after the illumination of the A/S light, I would certainly lean toward replacing the A/S/EVO Steering Module.
It's located behind the right side of instrument panel.
It appears that a 96 and 97 are the same module if looking for one at a salvage yard.

I see your point. Im a member of Dodgeintrepid.net. and for a site dedicated to one platform it is livelier than forums ive seen dedicated to whole Makes. I wish there was a successful site dedicated to jsut the towncar granted this site has the largest towncar section it seems to be dedicated to the Marks IMO

What went wrong?
The car was left to stagnate with no evolutionary changes. Also, the target market is dwindling.
Young people were not the Town Car target market.

WAL MART can make PATS KEYS !! Thats Scary,
and a new one on me !! Those transponder keys and the
securilock system now has an easy way to be comprimised.
Yep you are right, the system is VERY intellegent and knows
if it is being "tricked", like someone trying to use the same code
key twice in a row to make a new one. That needs to be done
at a dealer or a Ford certified locksmith ...

You can't drop the pan very far in the cross member area.
Best to loosen the motor mounts, disconnect all that applies so the motor can be raised, otherwise good luck.
