QUOTE (landar @ Nov 26 2009, 01:53 PM) I tried that website for a serpentine belt for my 98 LS at my local Toyota dealer. When I gave them the p/n from the website, they said it did not have enough digits and could not match it. Bummer I have yet to find a Toyota dealership parts department dealer that has access to the Lexus parts catalog. At least there are plenty of on-line discount Lexus parts sellers.

It doesn't sound like a hose issue in this case. The fact that you lose communication with the ECM when the engine starts to run poorly, points more to a electical problem. Once you have eliminated the 12 supply and grds, you should inspect the ECM. The fact that once it cools off, communication is re-established, and the engine runs well tends to confirm this. But before suggesting that you replace it, you need to confirm that the power...

QUOTE (George_Jetson @ Nov 23 2009, 09:37 PM) You're welcome, hope the plug swap goes well. If you find that the outside of the plugs are oilly, I would stop. That would indicate that the valve cover tube seals are leaking. And you will need to consider replacing the valve cover gaskets. It's done. Rears were little hard. I used two 3" extensions. I have to do little engineering on plug socket. i opened...

Apparently, they (Lexus) purposely keep the Toyota dealerships in the dark as concerns Lexus/Toyota parts crossing.

QUOTE (Lexuses71 @ Nov 25 2009, 08:48 AM) What to do about the Pioneer CD changer on a '98-00 LS400 with Nav when you know the Laser is on way out? My unit has become VERY tempermental. It runs fine fo r5-10 minutes, then skips while playing a CD or freezes up altogether, especially in hot weather. It also will absolutely not play any burnt CDs. I tried replacing with a unit from a '99 GS400, but the Connectors...

Hi - First - THANKS! Next, I'm looking through the Body Electrical guide, "ils inspection.pdf" and it is referring me to another section "DI-907". I can't find "DI" - does anyone know where it is? Or perhaps, can you just tell me how to remove the Personal (Map) Light lens cover? I nedd to change the bulb and I don't just want to pry it off and risk breaking it. (Mine is the kind with...

I've done engine rebuilds and such on older american vehicles, and a few older Japanese. I've done alot of my own work on my '84 Benz, too. Got handy repairing electrical issues on the Audi's I've owned. But if this Lexus needs anything near major, I'll pay someone else to mess with it. Cars ain't near as fun to tear into as they were 30 years ago!

Matej, You definitely have some dirty oil in your engine, and have had for some time. Its very hard to tell how the previous owner treated the oil change schedule, but I'd bet it didn't see regular service before you bought the car. That aside, you need to double up on the oil and filter changes for the next several changes in order to get a lot of the gunk out. By that, I mean do ...

What may be the possible reasons? Not sure the possible reasons but I get 20 city and 25 highway mpg - usually avg about 23 per tank.

It's unlikely you are going to find the mats that have been withdrawn from sale. There's always Weathertech if your car isn't AWD -- inexpensive and decent quality: http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct...ptCho iceIds=710
