What has happened to DC Service???

I often think about what Eric would think of whats become of his site,on one hand,he has to be happy it is still online, that in itself is an accomplishment. On the other,if he were here,Im sure things would be much different than they are.I hope the man above has taken care of him,and his family as well.I sure do miss him...

GIE 2010 Dixie Chopper Diesel Mower

I saw the huge yellow crash panel/whatever on the back of the website 360 photo. Geez. I'd just take that off. I've never smashed the back of my mowers into anything anyway. I'd much rather actually SEE the Cat engine at least.

Gravely 1748...good buy?
Published (2009-11-02 11:45:00)
Question for you Gravely users. We are looking at a 1748 Gravely hydro walkbehind offered by a commercial operator who is going out of business. It has 738 hrs on it and appears to have been well taken care, but does show some wear (tires and sulky). A grass catcher and a sulky (needs tires) are included. He thought it was an '04 model and is asking $1500...........says he paid $6000 for it new?? It needs a new starter but can be started...

Duncan, how have you been, I haven't heard from you forever. I have an order in for one. People took pictures of everything you can imagine at Expo, except the Cat Dixie. (still confused) Lot of pictures and reviews are in store when I get my CAT. I was sorry to miss my first Expo in 10 years. I try and never let that happen again. I'm going to speak with John about his photography.

Im sure Lucas will still sell the 15w40! Theyve been around a while.I cant
afford to buy it at the chopper dealer anyway, somehow the price almost
triples per gallon from what it costs elsewhere.

Yes, Briggs. And transaxles. They are really getting cheap here. I remember when they used to say they wouldn't build a cheap machine.
This is cheap. If I'm going to be in this range...I'll just get a Cub Cadet with transaxles and save some money.
I've played around on a Cub with a Kawasaki and a 54" stamped deck. It actually is a pretty decent machine for a non-commercial mower. ...

Here is a thread with pictures of lubrication points for Dixie Choppers. Scroll down to picture #11 for the diesel. The thread is from 2004 but is still fairly accurate. The grease fitting in picture #16 is probably the hardest to see.

Hey guys,
My 36'' SW scag was stalling for a week or so, then it started to die after 10 mins of operation. I changed the hose that connects the fuel tank with the fuel filter and there's no more stalling. However, the mower refuses to start, and when it rarely starts, it stops immediately. I changed the spark plug, fuel filter, oil filter, and air filter..zilts.
Any recommendations?

You could have a partially sheared flywheel key or an ignition module
starting to go bad.

Got on my dixie to mow and battery was down, jumped it off and mowed my
mother in law's leaves and then parked it to put it up. Blew it off and
next when I fired it up it was at max rpm and I couldn't adjust it with the
throttle. It was running about 4100 rpms. Got it in the carport and parked
it. Checked all the calbe travel and it seemed fine, but fired it up today
and it just ran at idle and ...
