Big Dog mowers?
Published (2009-11-25 22:33:00)
The differences have been discussed on various other forums. Excel Industries says these are "value priced". That code talk for "cheaper built". I can not remember all the differences, but smaller pumps and wheel motors comes to mind, as well as the use of B&S on many models. Do a search on other forums and many of the differences are talked about. The word from dealers is, that these are built to compete with box...

I contacted the company and they said pricing was not set firmly at this point, but said the machine would be in the $45,000 range. OUCH!!! Lynn

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I have a 15 lb turkey on the Big Green Egg, seasoned with fresh Rosemary, Thyme, butter, salt & pepper, and injected with a locally vinted white wine, added some cherry wood chips to the charcoal to get a light smoky flavor. It is smelling awesome!!!!!

They'd get a better cut with the tracked unit maybe if it had an outfront deck with the drive unit behind. That way the tracks wouldn't be running down the adjacent uncut grass. The tradeoff would be a longer machine. That and more power! I didn't notice, but anyone know what the blade tip speed is?

Is your new belt a wrapped belt or raw edge belt? The spring the engagement arm should be compressed about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 inches when the blades are engaged. I've noticed that sometimes the wrapped belts tend to still want to make just enough contact with the engine pulley to slightly turn the blades until they get worn in some. Also, sometimes the tension idlers might not be fully disengaging....

Got on my dixie to mow and battery was down, jumped it off and mowed my
mother in law's leaves and then parked it to put it up. Blew it off and
next when I fired it up it was at max rpm and I couldn't adjust it with the
throttle. It was running about 4100 rpms. Got it in the carport and parked
it. Checked all the calbe travel and it seemed fine, but fired it up today
and it just ran at idle and ...

I would do once a year service. With that accumulation of hours, that should be fine. Just check your oil level every time you use the machine.

That is a great idea, only thing I didnt like is it looks slower than a
string trimmer as far as productivity.Only time will tell though.I think in
a larger version,it really has a lot more potential,as its wider,and more
stable, and productive. The 22T doesnt seem to cut the tall stuff very good
in the videos.I think its uses are even better as a pesticide spreader,no
risk of getting contaminated ...

Duncan, how have you been, I haven't heard from you forever. I have an order in for one. People took pictures of everything you can imagine at Expo, except the Cat Dixie. (still confused) Lot of pictures and reviews are in store when I get my CAT. I was sorry to miss my first Expo in 10 years. I try and never let that happen again. I'm going to speak with John about his photography.
