the horizontal scroll bar for thumbnails is ugly. Most people use some javascript to scroll horizontal thumbnails left or right as you move the cursor over them. Plenty of free scripts available if you look at jquery or hotscripts.

DIY one-shot trichromie camera?
Published (2009-11-12 01:26:00)
I'm totally unsure about how much precision is required. If I were to build this (I probably won't) I would put primary emphasis on RGB focus, and less rigorous emphasis on registration, since that's easily done in Photoshop. Such a camera could never be very flexible, due to the angles involved. At first I tried a design that went from 300mm (infinity) to 600mm (1:1), but it's not possible. 500m is only barely possible, as...

Shen-Hao remains the most affordable new camera by far. There are plenty of very affordable accessories for them, including the bag bellows. I've had one for two years and was very happy with it. It has all the movements you may ever want, but it is heavier by more than a pound compared to a Tachihara. It also has interchangeable bellows and Graflock back. It is as complete as a wooden field camera can reasonably be without being...

A quick note on who pays for the rescue. Back in 2008 that was the question on a hiking blog. Specifically, who pays for a rescue on the JMT/PCT? To get an answer, I called up the Inyo National Forest thru which the trail run. The Forest service responded that all rescue's outside the boundaries of national parks are conducted by the county sheriff in which the call for help originated. So if you were in Inyo county when you called, the...

I did for a little while, gave it up when I found the camera - a Canham - too fussy for my taste. I got my HP5 Plus through the Ilford annual special order - yes, they have offered 5x12.

I like both. Maybe 60-40, Ektar is the 60. Are you taking more than 1 film back?
If you held my feet to the fire, 1 film only............probably 160VC. For the extra bit of speed.

There is a product sheet at http://www.fujifilmusa.com/shared/bi...n_Bulletin. pdf which has a long exposure compensation table up to 32 sec. I would plot on a graph the 2, 4, and 32 sec exposure compensation points and then extrapolate the curve out to further times if required.

There are quite a few flatbeds of that kind - most widespread probably the Linotype Topaz, but that does not stop there, Agfa, Kodak and Fuji or their subsidiaries had similar scanners. Be warned that the more affordable among them are by now very old and will usually require a correspondingly archaic high-end computer hardware like G3 or even M68k or Nubus Macs, SGI or Sun workstations etc. - ...

Ummm, what tape? Seriously... I use Q-tip moistened with 99% alcohol to clean the tracks, and keep it away from the light seal and hinge materials. For the slides themselves, I swab them down with a moistened paper towel and make sure they are completely dried before putting them back in. Emphasis should be placed on my use of the term, "moistened". I suspect that alcohol (or my other ...

There are a million variables.
Assuming the transparency is sharp and the scanning is done well and with good equipmnet (two important assumptions) then the sharpness of the resulting print is dependent on the digital workflow.
Sharpness is lost both in the scanning and in the printing stages, and possibly also in any resizing or other interpolations. This needs to be fixed with ...

If you're going to spend a thousand or so you can expect a quality matcutter from
several different manufacturers. You should also order measuring stops and a
squaring arm. But like all equipment you will need to make some starting adjustments and practice technique. Another thousand (or much less used) and you
have a professional glass/acrylic/board cutter mounted on the wall. And yes you ...
