QUOTE (funmama707 @ Nov 27 2009, 11:06 AM) Thanks. I was all ready to go a month ago. Now as time is getting closer I'm getting more anxious. If I could stick to shakes and/or portion control I wouldn't need to get the band. I'm really trying now! Hi Theresa! I just wanted to say HELLO and to tell you that you will do great! QUOTE (uniqueladie @ Nov 27 2009, 08:02 PM) Hello, I am new to this forum and will be getting banded in January. I am both excited and aprehensive. I have heard nothing but rave reviews but I have also read some of the things that go wrong. Not from any of Dr. Ortiz's patients. Any tips to take into consideration while I wait for my special day? Best advice that I can give you is to start living your life now as though...

Open Band
Published (2009-11-25 06:22:00)
My band is so unpredictalble that some times it feels like I don't even have one. At other times, same time of day and same food will get stuck. And yeah I do take advandage of those times. but I feel bad after and wonder if somthing is wrong, do I need a fill? Am I causing damage by doing this? Then it will close up and I am glad that I didn't run in for a fill. I don't know if everyone has this same experience or not

I also wanted to add that it was said on here before that when you do the preop and limit calories to "healthy" calories, the liver goes through changes (shrinks or becomes more flexible) and that makes it easier for the surgeon to place your band.

Hi Babe and congrats on the 30lbs lost! I think for alot of people that the weight loss is a slow process. The last 5 months have been turtle speed for me and is does get VERY aggravating when you eat as little as you eat and the weight is not falling off. I have found for myself that I can NOT eat that many calories and lose weight. I have to each much much lower. Honestly I would say ...

Hey Funmama! Are you getting your Lapband and OCC? Are you freaking because you are supposed to lose weight during your preop? Many folks here have done the program that Dr Miranda suggests -- protein shake for breakfast, protein shake for lunch, and lean cuisine for dinner. (If you already know this, sorry to be redundant). If you are a patient at OCC, they probably are asking you to ...

Hi Skinny! First of all, congrats on making this difficult but empowering decision. You won't regret it (and i'm a super super slow loser ). In terms of mental health and self esteem, i have depression too and I'll be honest with you, there wasn't some dramatic self esteem improvement or energy improvement. Yes, I get these unexpected "holidays" from my band as well. I usually treat them like holidays, too...eating all the wrong foods just because I CAN. It shows me time and again that left to my own devices, I'd still be in the 250's. Thankfully, I only seem to loosen up for one day every few months. If it's been a few days, you might have lost some more belly fat and might need atiny fill...
