I too felt very impatient about the hoops process and feared losing my desire to be banded. (I have Kaiser and was told at orientation that were not doing bands and didn't know when they were going to resume doing them). For this reason, I decided to self-pay and the only thing I could afford was to go to Mexico. My experience in Mexico was fantastic so I have continued my treatment and fills with my surgeon in Mexico. Kaiser will cover...

Will i miss food?
Published (2009-11-07 10:48:00)
Great question, and lots of varying and interesting responses. I'm another one who doesn't miss certain foods. For one thing, although I have great restriction, there's really not any foods I can't eat, although some more carefully than others. I wasn't a big meal eater, so I don't have that to miss, but I was a junk food grazer. Man, I don't miss that in the least. I hated that I felt such a compulsion to...

Published (2009-11-05 23:57:00)
Feeling great tonight. Doctor said to take the Gas-X and follow the directions on the box. I won't eat another hamburger for a long time! It might have been the Dale's seasoning but since I haven't eaten beef yet, it could have been a rejection from my body. I know it doesn't like cheese anymore. Back to chicken & fish. Thanks for the help.

Is there any good proteins that you do like that your nutritionist has recommended?
Clean out your cabinets of the bad stuff. I know if it's in my house I will eat it. If you make it harder to find, you won't bother.
If you are constantly getting stuck, tell your doc - that is not normal. Go back to mushy stage.. try yogurts, cottage cheese, hummus, soups, etc.
I know fries were not ...

It's unlikely (though possible) that you will need to be filled to the full capacity of your band.
They fill slowly to avoid complications - and the difference between being "just right" and "too tight" really can be the difference of .25 cc.
It's frustrating (I know!) and tiring to have to wait for the perfect restriction . . . but you're not alone and one day, you'll get there.

You may be getting rehydrated since you're now able to take in more liquids than you were previously. Also, if you're eating the wrong soft foods, you will gain.
Tell your husband you need support and his comment was not supportive. Twelve pounds since mid-October is incredible.

Honestly only a couple of people know about my band and they've been supportive and those that don't know about my band haven't really noticed the weightloss except for my pharmacist lol - All I'll be telling them is that I've cut soft drink, bread and rice which is completely true, explain that and how high in carbs they are and because you ate so much before and then decided to cut them out ...

Hi MsJennie! I'm in the early stages. I had orientation last Tuesday (11/25) and I now have a surgeon appt for 1/8. They told me to call 2-3 times a week and see if they have any cancellation appts available since I'm really flexible with appt days and times. My surgeon is going to be Dr. Judith Park.
I started the 1200 calorie diet on Friday after Thanksgiving and I've lost 4 lbs this week! ...

Good Saturday Morning. I'm up and getting ready to go to my monthly support group meeting. I really enjoy going to these. I seem to do real good for about a week afterwards and than fall of again.
