Seems like the norm then. It wasn't a problem, just that l am so used to my (soon late?) Patrol, where it can run on gas all the time if needed (not necessarily the best thing in the wrong hands, someone who doesn't care too much about their car). _________________ Discovery Series 1

some of the reasons that car manufactorers dont deliver the top specs from an engine are, it gives them somewhere to move when they want to sell a new model 'with more power' and unless its the top spec prestigous model in the line up [range rover] everything else must have less performance. _________________ chris [back in melb] brain. social secretary. call me if you have any requests for guest speakers or social events 0407 308...

I am guessing you want to know how to lock the CDL in cols D2 ? Climb under the car from the drivers side and run a hand up the front tailshaft on to the front of the transfer case an you should feel a small spigot with flat sides coming through a mounting plate that has three bolts holding it down, thats the CDL activator. Just watch out for the hot exhaust running along side. _________________ one handed blindfolded backwards in the dark

Defender or not Defender

Bullbar is OK but you will need to possibly increase the mount lengths, I think, Td5 bar is fine, but the Tdi has a narrower grill and so the bar could be mounted back a bit further. Side rails should be OK I don't believe they've change significantly. Roof rack and ladder are no problem - I've just put a Hannibal on mine and it could go on the Tdi if I wanted to. Rear side seats may be problematic as the rear guards are shaped...

Yeah Dave...I have two. The one behind the front row seats goes in for long trips so I can fit a second water tank. For shortish jaunts I leave in the second row seats and just fold 'em forward Daryl _________________ Why bother explaining why you own a Land Rover...they obviously don't get it! I have been looking around for the mechs from a broken 03/04 D2 to go into my 2000 Disco, but have not had any luck in locating one so far.I was looking at getting Ritters conversion done but there too busy at the moment. My query is, if I get underneath and engage my CDL with a 10mm spanner will the TC and ABS be disabled or do I have to have the car running, then engage the CDL from underneath...

i am thinking about bying a 2003 Land rover discovery MY2003 diesel. manual. but i have heard that there are massive oil pump issues with this moddle and can lead to total engine failure. Just wanted any advice on the issue, is it only the petrol engines or is this car plagued with problems no matter what the fuel type! Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. ...

I'm looking for a straight & rust free grille panel for my 1959 Series 2. That is the panel that supports the headlights in between the mudguards. On the Series 2 the only lights on the front mudguards are parking/side lights and indicators. _________________ Richard...

Went down to Sorrento today. Got there OK, but when trying to leave, the fuel pump wouldn't run. No sound, none of the usual faint whine. Fuse checks out OK and there's power to fuse. I'll try and check for power at the pump end tomorrow when it's light, but is there anything else I should look for before ripping the tank out? Eventually rescued by the RACV. cheers Nugget ...

I'm looking for a second hand Series 3 Plastic Grill to put on my 2A Shortie. It doesn't have to be in perfect condition, as long as it's ok. Even slight damage would be ok. Looking at swapping my GQ Patrol for a Series 1 Disco. A question l have is about switching from gas to petrol. Apparently if it sits for more than 20 minutes or so, after being run on gas, then it will only run on petrol on start-up, then can be switched straight over to gas while on the run. Normal? Is it an inbuilt "safety" mechanism? _________________ Discovery Series 1
