What colour to choose?
Published (2009-11-28 09:55:44)
I don't mind waiting until Christmas because it may be a couple of weeks before it arrives and I am very busy at work right up until Christmas. He did ask me if I wanted it earlier but I said no - too tempting!! Work or baking??? I know what I would choose. He ordered it from our local kitchen shop who were very helpful. I know I could've got it cheaper online, but if something goes wrong (touchwood!) then I can take it...

No she doesn't no. I have been talking with a good friend of ours, and she has been getting info out of my wife by making out that she is going to buy one. HAHAHA. I have used my mums credit card and house for del. It has been fun and my wife doesn't like surprises that much, so this is going to be a good one

Shalem thank you for posting those warnings above.  Its true that its sometimes hard to figure out conversions and weights with the US system.  I do know the KitchenAid Australia goes by weight, and I would assume it would be the final weight of the dough and not just the dry ingredients.

Re: Bread without yeast
Published (2009-11-27 21:31:36)
Thanks for your post, yes I always thought sour dough was "yeast free" but apparently (if someone has food intolerances) the "starter" becomes in chemical terms the same as actual yeast, which is a real shame as that would be such a winner otherwise. So, I'm back to the Irish soda bread, which I haven't actually made yet, but thanks to this forum I now know it's in the Kitchenaid cookbook.

Potato Foccaccia using KA mixer and recipe from The Ultimate Mixer Cookbook. I probably wouldn't make these without a KA because I think there'd be too much work without it. It was simple, quick (other than rising time) and effortless to make with the KA, and the foccaccia turned out light, fluffy and delicious. Making mashed potato with the KA mixer is awesome....it's so yummy, ...

I haven't had a look at All-Clad before, I must have a look. Usually when I'm looking through places, I am looking for things I "NEED". Right now I've been drooling over a cast iron grill pan that I MUST have.
