Wholewheat pastry flour for...
Published (2009-12-18 19:19:00)
> Thank you sparcplug, for that explanation! Couldn't have said it better myself! Birthfree, that's what I was asking about the model number for: the Pro 600 has a flour power rating of 14 cups of AP white flour, or 8 cups of specialty/wheat flour per load, so keep in mind what sparcplug said when choosing a flour and determining the size of your bread recipe. Even if you don't use one from the use and care manual, you might...

The Mixer Bible Cook-Off!
Published (2009-12-18 09:54:00)
> Basic Piza Dough Still needs some tweaking to get it more chewy, but resonably good. Anyone know how to make this recipe more chewy?? Todays menu from the Mixer Bible is going to be Farmhouse White Bread and Old Fashioned Chicken Noodle Soup. Bread is rising as I type! I might also do some christmas baking since this is my last day home alone before school holidays start. "Julia Child" Copper Pearl Pro 600,...

Wholewheat pastry flour for...
Published (2009-12-18 02:45:00)
> Hi Birthfree, Welcome to the forum... I'm not sure I'm fully understanding your question(s). Are you asking if the grain mill is worth it? Yes - I have one and it works great - just be aware that it is better to grind the grain in 2 (or more) passes so the grain doesn't overheat (due to friction) and destroy the very nutrients you wish to get from it. The grain mill is very fast, so making two passes is not a big deal....

More fettuccine

> The first time I made it, Quinn, I dried the pasta on flour-dusted paper towels -- that took a lot of space. <g> I don't have handles on my cabinets, or your solution would have worked for me, too. Still, this drying rack really made things easier -- more compact and much neater. SandyF

Bags of flour later = Zero
Published (2009-12-11 16:05:00)
> Hi Flourchallenged. Just a suggestion, but have you watched any vids on YouTube about making homemade bread? I don't have a link, but I think a lady who called herself a1angiem posted a vid that helped me immensely. I think she was using an Artisan. Please try that before you waste more ingredients. Nothing like an experienced Mom to walk you through it! If you were my neighbor I'd come show you. I made bricks instead of bread...

Gas Range Turns on by itself
Published (2009-12-17 17:22:00)
> Try turning the power off at the circuit breaker for about 10 to 20 minutes to see if this corrects the problem. If the unit is turning on by itself but it is not turning on- is it just the control panel that is starting up? The warranty part for the control board is 5 years but we would recommend that you consult with a technician as the part would not be returnable/refundable. Have a nice day! Angel

Sorry, bikermouse, we don't recommend using a 6-qt. bowl on a 5-qt. mixer. The manual might mention a 6-qt. bowl since we include several different models in one manual printing. The one you have might include instructions for a 5-qt. and a 6-qt. model, but should give specific instructions for just the 5-qt. The mixer's wattage is proportional to the amount of ...

MMM, Sandy, that looks great! And I'm sure the drying rack makes all the difference in the preparation. The only time I ever made my own fettuccine with the pasta roller/cutter, I didn't have access to the drying rack, so we hung the noodles on wire clothes hangers from the kitchen cabinet handles. It was pretty mickey-mouse-looking! Your display is so much classier...

All our finishes are very durable. The Nickel Pearl is one of our 'baked-on painted' colors. It starts as a powder and then is actually fired onto the mixer during production. KitchenAid Quinn

What about some pear jam or pear butter? Either I think would taste fabulous, but are a little different.... I'm not too far away from purchasing my own mess of apples for the fall - I still have apple butter from last year so I guess apple pies and apple sauce will be on my agenda. I think that 1 and 3 are normal operation functions, but #2 is a result of not locking the bowl properly to the lift.... You'll want to make sure that the bowl snaps to the back AND pins on the lift. That way the bowl won't come loose off the lift.... I had to figure that out when I first got my mixer..... Welcome to the forum, as well!!! Vernon...

The oil leaking can occur if a mixer sits without use for a long time, or if it gets tipped or stored on its side. It's not caused by mixing heavy mixtures with it. The amount of ingredients your mixer can take depends on what size and model you have. If you let me know the model number of your mixer, I can give you a better idea of the amount of your sausage ball ...

I'm on my 11th try this morning to make the white bread recipe in the book. I can''t seem to get the dough right is my guess. It never cleans the bowl. If I add more flour then the motor bogs down, if I add less it's still sticky. I've tried bleached and unbleached flour in case that makes any difference, I have sifted and left it unsifted in various tries, there ...
