Easiest way to deal with it is to buy a new engine. Most satisfying is to rebuild the motor. What did your buddy do to destroy it? That kind of carnage at 40 mph is very unusual. Was he still in first gear? Rob

Just ride the bike like you normally would. You don't need to worry about keeping it under 4k. That's not even safe on this bike with the gearing. I'd find a thread and link you but this is easy enough I can tell you. If you search break in methods you should find enough info. This has been beaten to death though, so I am gonna lock it.

Option #3 1. Sell fairings and all the bells off your bike 2. Put a 905 cage on it! 3. Stunt it! Use the money from #1 for a down payment on a newer bike! But it all seriousness, if you've got the chance... go for a new FI bike!!

both are solid platforms and it certainly doesnt sound like you'd be biting off more than you can chew. just remember that you will be the one riding it and thusly you have to be ok with your choice. to me, it already sounds like you've made up your mind.

I use both brakes all the time every time. I had to do a panic stop yesterday when the car in front of me decided to stop for a yellow we both could have made it through. I hit the rear brake first, clutch and double downshifted and once the front began to compress I grabbed the front brake pretty good and stopped real fast with no wobble....
