Ordinarily, yes, but this one appears to be in BFA (N.B.: not the same as BFE though it is a bit out of the way), the country where a valued KVR member travels periodically to teach computer music to folks. As for Kalgoorlie being in BFA: I have it on good authority that Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill has come -- and when geographic locations go flitting about like so many butterflies in this unseemly manner, well, who can say? VST3- is it finally catching on?

Just to add to this thread, apparently the D4 compressor from Roger Nichols Digital is also VST3. So one would assume that possibly the other plugins would follow. But who knows. Brent ---- ProRec.com- Articles, tutorials, forums, and more to come!

Best amp-modeling plugin?
Published (2009-11-07 10:48:00)
I say similar every time this question comes up, the best sounding sim will always be the one you don't choose. I think people think I'm being sarcastic but it's actually true. After you get use to any amp in any form it's easy to interpret "sounds different" as "sounds better". While with one trick ponies (like many amps) it's often more obvious when it sounds bad with sims...

I love Phonics/Attack Entrancer GUI. Even Its only supplied preset sounded good but my machine could not handle realtime tweaking to create something out of it because of very high CPU load. Audio was completely choaked. This one took around 77% of cpu. May be because of SM. I tried it on Minihost, FLS9 and Reaper. But lovely design. ---- The wisest mind has something yet to learn.

Haven't had any issues in Reaper, and I'm using the 64-bit version on my 64-bit Vista Business install with Reaper's built-in 32-bit to 64-bit bridging. I have had a bit of weirdness with knobs... But it's not just Bootsy, products from major companies sometimes have a bit of wobble to the knobs with the bridging going on. Once I set it it stays put just fine, though.
Sorry I couldn't help...

For general-purpose rock use (not so much for the really high-gain modern metal stuff), I still find myself going back to the JCM900 emulation in Simulanalog's Guitar Suite Freeware VST. I shelled out for the entire Amplitube 2 series, which is good - especially the very lovely Amplitube Fender, but time and again I find that both I and my clients prefer the Simulanalog stuff.
