I have a Clymer Shop Manual for '68-'86 CJs and they state that the large check ball sits under the accelerator pump plunger. The small check ball goes under the venturi cluster. I have seen BBD/BBD-2 websites on the net, perhaps they could help you out. I remember a modification involving drilling out the accelerator pump nozzles that I did and got good results.

If you want to try tracing wires just to look for a short it would be easy.Three wires, you would need and ohm meter and a paper clip, to wrap around the end of the meter leads (connector pin probes)This test if no shorts are found would eliminate the cps as being the prime suspect at least in my eyes its any way. You can save your self 5 dollars and a trip to the part store with this trick if you want. pull your fuel pump relay on the bottom...

i WAS awfully frustrated. the only thing i can think is that i bought two bad pumps. however, after buying and installing 2 bad pumps i have little interest in buying a third. today i picked me up an electric napa pump. well, long story short she fired. im gonna get the proper wiring tomorrow but its nice to finally hear it turn over. words can not describe just how happy that little damn pump made me just now. thanks again to everyone who...

Hi, Few years ago, I had to replace the seal in my a/c. If I remember correctly, there was no need to insert it with press. But I'm not sure. Saar.

On a 2000 (and 2001 xj), you don't have plug wires, cap, rotor. And the fuel filter on a 2000 is part of the fuel pump assembly, located inside the tank. It is not serviced unless symptomatic and then, an entire assembly replacement is recommended. Cleaning the idle air control and throttle body is never a bad idea as a matter of course. They get carboned up over miles and time. I would recommend doing this and have included a procedure...

New guy, got Jeep issues.

They are more prone to go out when big wheels/tires are used. They will wine and make noise before they go out though. Not using the correct fluid will also shorten their life too. In general they are pretty good.

My 97XJ hasn't done that specifically, when it stalled it was definitve (CPS), but I don't think that's your problem...
I have had other vehicles that exhibit the same problem you describe with low rpms and stalls (particularly at red lights and stop signs). The problem each time was a leaky vacuum system, either cracked line or something.
Hope this helps.

the one with the plug ( black one, 2 wire) is the knock sensor. there should be 2 other connectors for the coolant temp sensor on the side of the block and the other for the 02 sensor, 4 wire i believe.
what happened? some wire rub through and fry?

Anything is possible. I would however trust the experienced mechanics' opinion over some recluse in a livingroom somewhere listening to your mpeg of your noise.

so i have come to the conclusion i bought a bad pump.
took like out of filter - cranked - no gas thought maybe something wrong with the fuel line
took off fuel line, shot some starting fluid through it - good pressure, no leaks, no rust pouring out, line not clogged
put paper towel coming out of fuel pump - cranked - paper towel bone dry
again syphoned gas out of the fuel ...

This is a very common place for rust. Coating with POR in this case won't actually stop the rust, because of the holes in the metal you'll find this sheet metal is rusted on the bottom as well, which you can't reach, and the rust will continue up through the bottom of the metal. If you want to stop the rust, the metal should be cut out and replaced.

There are 2 different input shaft bearings for a t-18 ( 18 & 20 mm, I think).
It sounds like you need the thinner one. You're lucky, in a way.
When I did the short shaft swap in my t-18, my kit included the thinner bearing (I now know that I needed the thicker one...). I didn't know any better, so, I installed it. This caused major problems, which meant the tranny had to come out, again...

These forums are specific to the different Jeep platforms.
You should post this on the GRAND CHEROKEE forum; this is the CHEROKEE forum. Different vehicle. Your results will be more accurate over there.

Fab it yourself or pay a shop to. This way you can 1) add your own style 2) extend past B pilar 3) tie in to frame.
