If indeed Iran has tested such a device, they would almost certainly be working from blueprints obtained from Pakistan - the same source that provided many of their early gas centrifuges. Pakistan, in turn, received assistance in the design of their nuclear weapons years ago from China. It allowed them to leapfrog their nuclear weapons designs, long before they actually tested the real thing. Ominous news, but not surprising.
