Question about cargo cover storage
Published (2009-11-23 08:38:00)
I don't think you can store the cover in the car with the seats folded. You can store the CARGO NET, but not the retractable cover. For the net, see here: Removing Rear Seat Cushions for more Packing Space I'd love to be wrong on this one!! I never know what to do with my cover when the seats are folded.

WTB 3.6 fsi longblock

All VR6s have timing chains...so you'll be waiting a long time for a belt failure. Chain failure is unheard of in these engines (and the VR6 dates back to '91) so I'd guess that you aren't going to find one with a chain failure...especially considering the 3.6 version has only been with us since '07.

US/Metric Speedo

You don't need to change anything out. The Touareg is sold with the exact same insturment cluster throught the world. You just need to tell the Touareg which country you are in and it change everything for you (including the radio frq seperation is needed.) It is really that simple. Unfortunatly in "US Mode" (how they ship in the US) you do not have the ability to make these changes via the MDF. Therefore you must first...

Thank you, Partlowr... If this doesn't work, I'll be resigned to getting the Belkin TuneBase Direct with Handsfree... not a very elegant, but nonetheless promising option.

Do you calculate mileage usually? Interested to see if it changes much. I am so used to bragging about 24 MPG that I want to keep doing it. More power would be nice tho

G'day Jon,
Sorry to hear about what you have experienced. I must say there havent been many instances such as yours, especially with a new Touareg. Please let us know the outcome of the repairs and what really caused the breakdown. Did you try restarting it at all?
The VW roadside assist, like most other companies, is an outsourced model and as you experienced it can have its flaws.
Its a big...

You can always have the dealer do the " a la carte" thing, although some service advisors might snap back at you with something like, "but if you take our complete package deals, instead of picking and choosing what you want us to do, it will cost you less"
For starters, do the plugs and filters yourself. Believe me, if I can, so can you Inspections? I'm sure you can check/inspect 80-90% ...

Well, hello and welcome to the forum Morgan.
I know how you feel....Got bitten by the Touareg bug 8 months ago and got one myself pronto. At that time the majority of used examples were '05 and '04 s coming off the leases. Nowaday's my searches show a good supply of '06 s at decent prices $19-$24k depending on location and how they're trimmed out. Not that I don't like my 05 but it seems that...

I've heard of some people using their Vag Com to enable the Pitch/Role indicator on their Nav screens. However actually getting it to work seems to be an entirely different story. I'm constantly hitting a brick wall searching to see if anyone here in North America actually got it to work?

I have a 09 TDI and avg about 21 mpg city/hwy. My best mpg hwy is 27. I have 6200k miles and the mpg should improve as the engine breaks in. I have no complaints with the TDI thus far. Diesel is cheaper than gas ($2.79 gal) and you cant beat the towing limit.

Things i noticed
a) There is still a gap at one side of the runner and a overlap on the other. Not sure why this is but it bothers me none the less :screwy: .
b) Even after installation the runner still was a little bowed from shipping. Im hoping this wont cause it to pop out late. Prior to install i did gently flex the runners back into shape but did not want to press to hard to crease ...

I don't believe that anyone has come up with a way to change the display settings, whether VAG-COM or the dealer computer.

Depends on what package it comes with. I paid $21,000 for my '06 V8 with 39k miles, no options.

I got a notice in the mail today for a new map disc for my 07. Is the $199.00 price a good deal? Is there enough changes to make it worthwhile? I looked at last years and decided it wasn't worth the $. Anybody up for a group buy?

Go look on ebay and see how fast Touaregs depriciate. If that is not that important buy a V6 TDI. Leasing a TDI is close to a grand a month.
Buying is close to the same a month on payments.
An 05 or 06 V8 can be bought for much much less. Buy it and then buy a TDI CPO in a couple of years. Sure the V8 sucks more gas but you are done with most the depreciation, you are not stuck with the ...
