stan, the thing to do probably would be to have a start RPM of 3000 and an end RPM of 7000 with something like a 5.0 gear vehicle weight 1 lb per CI (or 3/4 lb per ci.. as long as it is constant per engine) and measure the time it takes to get from 3000 rpm to 7000 rpm

Well said, Bill! The non-factual DNC talking points, ad hominem attacks and virulent hate-speak regurgitated ad nauseum by the few partisan leftists here...... Got old a long time ago. Its quite refreshing to hear the truth spoken with regard to Governor Palin and her accomplishments whilst in public office. Many thanks, Harry

So lets compute some G force vs MPH curves for engines actually used in the EMC competition . If someone has the torque curves for an engine and the specs for a car to put it in, I'll do the computations if Stan will post the resulting graphs. The needed data is torque curve, tire size, vehicle weight, frontal area, drag coefficient (or estimate), gear ratios and rear end. We could put two different engines in the same car to see the...

OK I will start it off. Using the torque curve that David posted. I graphed G's against RPM and also against time. RPM = 10000 Tire Diameter = 24.0 Car Weight = 200.0 Rear Gear Ratio = 4.11 T Gear1 = 1.0 T Gear2 = 0.0 T Gear3 = 0.0 T Gear4 = 0.0 T Gear5 = 0.0 T Gear6 = 0.0 T Gear7 = 0.0 ; Acceleration and Top Speed Coefficient of Drag = 0.35 Frontal Area = 16.0 Percent Drive Train Power Loss = 0.0 Percent Rear End Power Loss = 0.0 Tire...

Carbide pilots with a lock taper on the top 3/8" of the pilot might be possible and would offer more support for the ball driver being 2 10ths smaller that guide size. I was recently wanting some for dedicated pilots for sm blk stuff that said PM me what you can provide if it is possible.

Those are not the real small peanuts. Those are 245 cc to start with and then have been heavily ported. Still an impressive result though.

Global cooling
Published (2009-11-24 16:44:00)
I'm not up on this much, but heard as the temps cool and there is more ice on the caps, the oceans will rise. I guess it may be too simple to think about dropping ice cubes into a drink...it comes up. Also, I would think the humidity would go down with cooler temps, more water accumulating at sea and ground level instead of suspended in the air. Is that too simple? Either way, I don't see the temps going up. I'm also not...

No argument from me on your post. I agree with it. To add there has been no warming since 1998. Also more and more scientist and people are coming to the same conclusion. The global warming people are on an agenda to extract more money out of your wallet. It is nothing more than another form of redistribution of the wealth.

Number 2 is your only option with .000 deck and -9 cc's should put you right in the ballpark. Why not use the .039 gasket with the -9 cc's ??

I will be supporting her in the next Presidential election. I just hope our country survives the next 4 years. What a bill of goods some people bought into with the current occupant of the White House.

When I see something like this the first thing I suspect is auto-ignition.
Normal flame doesn't propagate into the small crevice space, however if
the air and fuel in the small spaces is heated to the fuels auto-ignition
temperature by compression and radiant heating the gases will burn. The
resulting heat and pressure will damage the piston.
For good information on the ...

-You should be able to see these rubbing with just a few rotations of the crank when you install the new bearings.
-I would get some green plastigage----lay 3 full length strips in the crank---one in the center and the other two pieces out close to the front and rear edges---bolt the main cap down then remove it---and you should see the ...

Indefinitely? Big turbo diesel with a continuous rating. 3412/ C27 CAT would do nicely, but indefinitely would still be only about 20,000 hrs. (and at 1800rpm not 5K)
Otherwise if it must be a BBC, I think the best value would be a 565 CI, 4.6" X 4.25" , 1 hp/ cu inch N/A at 5000 RPM built with all very high quality parts. You should be able to do a nice job for around $15K....

The engine dyno guy hammered a 1" long hardened steel pin into the dowel hole on the flywheel flange of the crankshaft when he dynoed it and left it in there. I am trying to get the dam thing out. I tried putting vice grips on it and hammering outwards on the vice grips to get it out, but its not moving.
I called him up and he said hammer up and down on the dowel 90* and it will come out, ...

When you have a needle and seat that is that big with that much fuel pressure (6-7) it will blow the needle off of the seat. You what volume to fill the bowl not to try to fill it with pressure. Look at it this way if you have a 3/8 hose with 7lbs flowing of water into a 5 gal bucket and you have a water hose flowing 5 lbs into the bucket. The water hose will fill it faster because of volume. ...
