The best Improv tech was a lighting director on Broadway before she got injured on the job and was no longer able to work on Broadway. The second best was trained by her and wound up becoming a professional off-broadway tech director. Both of them became improv techs after taking improv classes.

Lots of grey areas. If the bulk of the funny came from your brain, and your friend doesn't give you a piece of the meatball millions as a thank-you, that's pretty shitty. Nothing you can do about it, just avoid talking shop with people who have a habit of stealing ideas.
