I think the bare minimum is about 17GB, provided you disable hibernation, and move swap+temp to another drive/partition.

The maps are all uploaded on our tf2 server. Winfrey, Nights, and I tried out most of the payload races on Sunday night. Some of them were pretty blah, a couple of them were really good. plr_scoville and plr_panic are the ones that stick in my mind as being good and definite possibilities for being put on the server full time. Need to check out the others at some point in time.

This ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Inspiron#Inspiro n_531 ) would suggest that upgrading the CPU is possible but that the motherbopard is there to stay unless you want to start chopping the case about, i would think that unless you can find more detailed specs on the Mb buying 1066 memory could be a waste of money because i only see reference to 667 and 800MHz so . . . . . !

Dilbert will it connect if you take off all encryption? Not a long term solution, just a sanity check.
Also, is your encryption code a pass phrase or hexidecimal? Pass phrases are nice, but hexidecimal can take one step out of the process.

Throwing a vote in for Lenovo. Build quality is incomparable, and that's always the first thing that degrades for me in my laptops. Not sure on the options under a grand, but let me know if you'd like to go that route - I have an employee purchase program account via a friend that works for IBM. We're allowed to share them.

I gotta say that the O' Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. If you haven't heard some bluegrass/folk music you gotta check it out.
