Odd o2 broadband issue

I had this with Vispa a few years ago, that time it was a BT equipment misconfiguration problem; and it cropped up several times before it was finally hit on the head. I had exactly the same symptoms, excellent P2P and almost unusable internet.

Pop into IRC ( http://irc.bethere.co.uk ) or the BE forum, probably a better place to continue this. Tom - www.mouselike.org

Thanks for that Captain. I will give that drive a miss and look at your suggestion. I was taken a bit, alarmed at the shop who didnt know what w/ +r meant. It was going new at £10, not such a bargain then.

The small power connector only supplies power to run the adapter. You must connect the hard drive to a normal molex hard drive connector from the power supply, otherwise the hard drive is getting no power at all.

ISPreview covers Internet Access Providers, so you won't find much about web hosts here. Our sister site has a few more details but it never really took off like this one:
http://www.host-review.co.uk
I would suggest moving host and if you need any help with that then let us know, there are a lot of experienced people on here.

That is actually a very bizarre situation because it should be the other way around. O2's BT based Home Access package uses traffic management, though this is usually designed to give other services (web, email etc.) a boost while penalising P2P bandwidth during peak usage times.
On the other hand it might be that the P2P client you use is masking its activity with encryption, thus the ISP ...

That's because Windows Disc Management doesn't allow you to take free space from an existing partition and use it to make a new one. To solve this you have to use some different software, like this:

There is a way to get around this though but I haven't tried it myself yet

Have you tried using the telephone? I think there is very little in the way of consumer protection when it comes to webhosting providers, but you should always have a backup of your website and if it is a UK domain then it should be in your name via Nominet. In that situation I would leave and find a better home.

PlusNet/Madasafish are both part of BT so if you continue to have problems then you can at least get the phone service resolved by having a moan to BT directly about it, I hope. Best thing you can do in the short term is to keep pestering them, don't be rude, just keep the pressure on.
If problems continue then take a look at our complaints section:

Hi, I've not heard anything about this but I'll chase them up for you and put a little media pressure their way. Meanwhile you can add a review of their services here:

Can you borrow a friends modem or router to check it is not a fault with the freebie Thompson one??
I have had several friends who have ditched the Thompson routers due to various glitches.
A decent router can be bought for under £40, depending on the need for "N" wireless.

No chance.
It may be technically possible but it won't be worth their while.

Oh good - that's excellent news!
I'll need to pop up to Worcester some time in the next year to check some parish registers. I'll delay my visit until you've got the dosh, then you'll be able to afford a taxi from Malvern to Worcester, you can treat me to a decent meal, we can share a bottle or two, and you won't have to worry about the drink-drive side of things!

Hi there,
Really sorry to hear about the problems you've had I suspect you've posted about this over in our Community forums in which case James should be looking into things for you.
If that's not the case though then feel free to PM me your account details and I'll take a look to see if there's anything I can do to help.
Rgds,

As you realise, there are 2 types of CD/DVD writeable disk "+" and "-"
r means write once disks, as apposed to RW which is re-writeable disks
So this drive will read + & - disks and write to +r disks; NOT GOOD.
You do not give a price for this drive, but you can get a + & - "DL" ( dual layer), drive for under £16 (look here https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...roductId=34 739 )....
