I haven't seen "The Fugitive" in its entirety, but based on what I have seen from it, TLJ's performance is much more subtle and less showy than Fiennes' (no offense to him, of course. He was terrifying). Subtlety is appreciated by the Academy.
It evens out, though. I think Tommy Lee Jones should have won Best Actor for "In the
Valley of Elah", but he lost to the more showy performance by ...

I hope Jones is in or involved with this in some way or another. I'd love to see him direct, now that he is working with McCarthy on The Sunset Limited. I'd love to see McCarthy adapt Blood Meridian too; I don't like the way it's going with Todd Field writing it and directing it. If Tom were to direct it, it wouldn't be a masterpiece probably (maybe I'm wrong) but "Burials of
Melquiades Estrada" ...
