He made the clock to tick backwards. And that is why we saw the sequence of the clockmaker going
backwards in time, remember? He said it was a symbol of his wishes that the people killed in the war, including his son, would come back.

I dont think anyone really knew about it.
I mean if this was happening you probably would NOT want it to get out, b/c you'd be hounded and bothered by the media all the time.

They didn't know he was born at 84 though, he just looked very old, but there was no way of knowing exactly until he finally died.

I agree completely. My final thought on it was that they should have simply gotten Roger Zemeckis to direct this one, too, it would have completed the cheese factor and probably garnered a truckload of the little brass statues. Did this thing win any, anyway? I forgot to check.

agreed.
the soundtrack is phenomenal, among cinema's greatest in fact. I purchased a copy of the cd and it's my favorite album for when i'm studying or having a restless night. It's peaceful and graceful in every way possible.
Desplat is truly a great composer. His soundtrack for Birth is almost equally breathtaking (despite the movie being on a much lower level than
Benjamin Button)
