Just watched Duet.... WOW!!!!
Published (2009-12-04 10:50:00)
We're lucky you're here to condescend and explain it to us lowly uneducated masses. It did come off that way, didn't it? My apologies -- I'm including myself in those who have been affected by shoddy storytelling. I've caught myself affected by the increased number of commercials, too, which also affects storytelling. Four act shows are a thing of the past -- making scenes shorter and often inferior. Then there is the...

Can someone explain why Kira deserves the top seat with Odo? Nothing against her - I'm just totally bewildered over people's love is all. I'm not trolling or anything... I'd just love to hear why people like her so much is all. http://eugenicsbeginswithyou.typepad.com/

My take on Deep Space Nine
Published (2009-11-27 22:25:00)
I didn't much care for ENT until I got my 2tb HD and was able to download all of the Star Trek series (as my brother and I call them, "truk"s--named after a typo 5 years ago) and I decided to watch them from the chronological beginning, starting with Enterprise, then to TOS, then TAS, then TNG, then VOY, then DS9--at the time I really didn't know which to watch first out of Voyager and Deep Space 9 but I knew Deep...

Too bad, you are missing some good stuff, particularly TNG and Enterprise.
Data: I am curious, what is the etymology of that idiom?

I couldn't find one of these on the IMDb boards for DS9, so I thought a Character Elim(Garak)ination Game would be good.
I thought we could do one for the 'regulars', i.e. those credited in the opening title sequence:
Sisko 9 (-1)
Keira 10
Odo 11 (+1)
Bashir 11
O'Brien 10
Jadzia 10
Worf 10
Quark 10
Jake 9
Ezri 10
...and one for other recurring characters:
Garak 11 (+1)

It is sad when you finish a series. At least you have more Star Trek to watch.
And at least you got to enjoy a full seven seasons. It was truly a sad day when I finished Firefly and realized I would never have more than those 13 episodes and 1 movie to enjoy.

Yeah, just like they should be able to turn to liquid and then into various shapes, including all sorts of inanimate objects, animals or planets, or link and share thoughts as one mind, and of course they have to regenerate in a bucket every 12 hours.

The episode you are looking for is probably "To the death" (episode 22 from season 4). As I recall, the actual attack isn't shown; the episode begins with the Defiant & its crew returning to DS9 from an away mission in the alpha quadrant & upon approaching the station they find it heavily damaged. After they dock, Sisko is informed by Kira (who had stayed behind on DS9 while the others were on ...

Because DS9 didn't have as good ratings as TNG, and its characters aren't as widely known and iconic as Kirk and Spock, so the studio probably doesn't think it would do well enough at the box office to be financially successful. And after the failure of the last 2 TNG movies, the studio probably didn't have faith in the franchise in general. The success of the new movie will certainly help the ...

I agree. This is an example of good writing. Her character seemed 'real' and not a 'I am an evil alien who wants to take over the universe muwahahahaha' type character. She is an example of what separates DS9 from regular Trek: Maturity.
