Wasn't Marion on California time? Anyway, judging from my clock, it's only a few hours until check in time. Unlike Motel 6 - Norman forgot to leave a light on for her. But she'll manage to find her way. "It's only a mooovie!" alfie

On the difference between Friday and Saturday Night: when you work in one of the snootier art forms, you soon notice that there's a *huge* difference in the energy levels of Fri. and Sat. audiences. If the performance you're offering is relatively contemplative/slow/requires intense audience concentration particularly before intermission then 10-20% of the audience will nod off at least briefly (and another 10-20% will be clearly...

An interesting train of thought here, EC. (Or should I say trains?): I'd forgotten about Sam's remark to Lila about not stopping to tell him. He knew the score. That he grills Norman so mercilessly suggests that he may intuitively, unconsciously, know that Norman's the perp, or pulling the strings; that he's the main guy. Sam probably didn't know that mom Mrs B was mummifed and in the cellar but this and his focus on...

Excellent.
"The Wizard of Oz" show has played in the states, as has a "Star Wars" symphony this year.
I expect with a January Australia concert, it is only a matter of time before the concert reaches the United States(where I live), with stops elsewhere in the world.

Quoting our resident authority, ecarle :
"I trust we all know that while the "Psycho" script was set in late summer , because second unit guys filmed Xmas decorations in Phoenix in 1959, Hitchcock shifted the story to December, and thus:
'Psycho' is Alfred Hitchcock's Christmas Movie."

I'll bet its hotter than fresh milk in Phoenix, today.
December 11 is always a nostalgic date for me, but lookie here: today is a rare spot-on FRIDAY, December 11th!
So Marion would be driving today, and dying tomorrow night...Saturday December 12th.
Arbogast arrives in Fairvale a week later, and dies on Saturday night December 19th(right after he is killed, Hitchcock fades in to Sam's ...

Great post, EC, and you left me without having much to add so far as Psycho 's car scenes are concerned, however you got me to thinking about how much travel there is in Hitchcock's film, often dealing with people literally fleeing. He was a first half of the twentieth century guy, so his great love was trains, not planes. There are a lot of train scenes in Hitchcock, and leaving aside the ...

I know where you're coming from, EC regarding Burke's Law , which we've discussed before in threads that are probably now deleted. Another similarity is the black and white photography, ubiquitous on the small screen back then, just a few years from going all-color, we see black and white at its finest on those shows, and many are a pleasure to watch just for the photography, lighting and sets. ...

No, luckily enough for all of us.
BUT:
"Lobby card" photographs of many scenes from "Psycho"(Marion counting out the money in the car lot bathroom; Marion facing Norman on the porch; Arbogast questioning Norman in the offce) WERE colorized -- badly, as if with crayon -- and I think a couple of them are here at the imdb website.
Moreover, if you look at the official 1960 poster here at ...
