One of the first things that pop up in the search is this: http://www.filmreference.com/images/sjff_01_img0364.jpg It's not even in the movie! Interesting though!

I rather stupidly can't work out how to quote! [ quote ] ...quoted text... [ /quote ] - but without the spaces inside the square brackets A 6 hour version would be interesting, although am I right in saying not even Leone wanted that version? I don't think any of us know for certain. Leone made contradictory statements over the years. He seemed to quite like the version now available on DVD but he may have been putting a brave face...

I've never seen High School Musical, so I can't respond to that. But just to clarify, the score is one of many reasons why I am not eager to revisit Once Upon a Time in America again. Some other reasons: The sets are interesting to look at, but while watching the movie I never felt like I was in Prohibition Era New York. Lack of authenticity ruins a period picture for me, and no 1930s speakeasy ever looked like the one in the movie....

In fact, I'd go even further and say that the reason OUATIA is such an enigmatic movie is because it's almost an extension of Noodles' personality, which is itself enigmatic. The film is hard to puzzle out because Noodles is a puzzle. Hence his nickname? There, daddy, do I get a gold star?

I have to go for Jennifer Connelly as well I mean wooow that's one I would fall in love with as well and I'm lucky I had a similarly looking girlfriend back when I was that age and even more lucky now I've still got contact with her to this day. I saw the movie again today for the first time in many years and I had completely forgotten it was a young Jennifer Connelly in it and when I recognized her I was like wooow. Have u seen...

Look at it this way, do you, right now, know by sight, if you live in say New York or California, know what your Secretary of State, Commerce, etc., etc., looks like? I don't, other than usually the Governor, I don't know any of the other officials by sight, unless they somehow become a news topic. That said, if we go by the opium dream theory, then the whole film may be just a sweet dream that Noodles is having (in 1968) about how...

I would say if the studios released this film the way Leone wanted instead of cutting for rushed relese dates, The list I would go with are: Best Actor In A Leading Role (Robert De Niro & James Woods) Best Actress In A Leading Role (Tuesday Weld) Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Danny Aiello & William Forsythe) Best Actress In A Supporting Role (Elizabeth McGovern & Jennifer Connelly) Best Art Direction Best Editing...

"When filming was completed, the footage ran to a total of 8-10 hours. Director Sergio Leone and editor Nino Baragli trimmed the footage to around 6 hours, with the plan of releasing the film as two three-hour movies. The producers refused this idea (partly because Bernardo Bertolucci's two-parter Novecento (1976) had been a commercial/critical flop) and Leone had to further cut the film down to 3 hours 49 minutes." i...

Jennifer Connelly was radiant. Even then you could tell she was destined for great things.

We don't see from Max a leaning towards politics in the childhood scenes but there's plenty of indications that Max was highly ambitious. He takes over stealing the watch from the drunk, arranges for the gang to take over from Bugsy and makes deals with the Combination.
Deborah doesn't have a child with Max. She tells Noodles "he lived in San Francisco and L.A. for 30 years. He married a very...

As far as I am aware it was not released until 1984.
Filming started on 14 June 1982 and ended on 22 Apr 1983.
On 17 February 1984 there was a sneak preview in Boston of a 227 minute version and the movie was shown in this length at Cannes on 20 May 1984.
The truncated version opened in America on 1 June 1984.

Well I can certainly see how it would grate on some people however, i'm not one of those people.
I find the music helps keep the essence of the film - even though things change so much you still have the same feel for the characters and the story and I find this is largely down to the score remaining consistent.
Did anyone else find this or am I just loopy? :P
Frankly, watchin' Donny beat ...

Interesting theories which make a lot of sense. It's certainly a film about choices and whether Max actually committed suicide is irrelevant.
