There are some hints that Mulholland Dr. could be a combination of observed and imagined scenarios by an unseen person (well, maybe we get a glimpse of her; there is a blonde woman seen in the window of the
apartment building behind Winkies).
But if Lynch had this idea in mind he certainly didn't make it obvious or develop it very well.

Love Moulin Rouge and Mulholland Drive (obv). Donnie Darko was really good and powerful the first couple times, but I didn't care for it after that (and I hated the director's explanation and directors cut). Punch Drunk Love and Battle Royale were all right. Didn't care much for A
History of Violence and haven't seen the rest.

i think
the dinner party is the most emotional scene and also maybe the dreamy sequences after diane shoots herself

This has been suggested. But perhaps that would suggest that the old couple is somehow connected to Camilla since they come out of
the blue box in the bum's bag.
I suspect Lynch originally intended the bum to be some aspect of Camilla (hence casting a woman in the role). But most come to the conclusion that the old couple is linked to Diane Selwyn, suggesting the bum is an aspect of her psyche...

This is very interesting, funny I didn't notice the similarities considering Adam Kesher's uncanny resemblance to Godard.
Referencing Bardot's iconic red towel and of course the wig...I think there could be something to this
And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!
