Definitely "The King Of Comedy" was his most unusual role. That movie is so underrated (as is Jackie Brown for that matter). I'm glad DeNiro didn't play Max Cherry because I think Robert Forster was perfect in that role. I have to say that I didn't care for DeNiro's character in Jackie Brown too much. Not his fault either. I just didn't think the character had enough "meat" to it.

I really liked Fonda in SWF too, she is a great actress, apparently she is enjoying married life and raising kids, maybe she could do like one film a year? Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a Banana. GMarx

^"...hit her" I know, it isn't a big deal, but I hate when people misquote. This role is one of the best and the last great role from De Niro. I wouldn't have wanted to see him playing Max Cherry, because I always like him even more when he's playing a bad guy/criminal.

I just watched the Chicks with Guns video on the Jackie Brown extras DVD and that wasn't Zoe. All those chicks were fitness models. _ Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

In the novel her name is Jackie Burke and in the movie it's, of course, Jackie Brown. Why did he change it? Just to add kind of blaxploitation type of feel to the character. I'm..... A Communist

Yes. The Brown surname derives from an early 70s blaxploitation movie that starred Pam Grier as the liberated protagonist. Pam Grier had starred in the title role in Jack Hill's Foxy Brown , a 1974 blaxploitation movie, and the first film in that genre to portray a black woman as strong, independent and empowered, whereas prior to Pam Grier's role in that movie such women were passively stereotyped as male accessories or had a very...

Was that him, Tarantino I mean, playing the role of the answering machine's voice? It sounded like him when he said "end of message". "My name is Jack Carter, and you don't want to know me." Stallone (Get Carter)

I love this performance, and I agree that the explanation of killing Melanie is truly hilarious; but this is not the farthest he has strayed from type. The King of Comedy is one of his most odd roles in this sense. Other than that he is crazy, his outward mannerisms are essentially the exact opposite of the stereotypical De Niro character. It's easily one of his finest performances and one of...

Maybe they are both very active in theatre work? Would you prefer it if they kept on accepting any crappy movie that comes along so you can still see them in movies and the public eye?
