Sometimes it's just fun to stretch your imagination. That's one of the really fun things about this movie in my opinion. HOME IMPROVEMENT IS THE FUNNIEST SITCOM EVER!!!

Quick Question about film
Published (2009-11-25 14:36:00)
Let me clarify: The only celebration is the marriage of Carl and Ellie at the beginning of the film. No one mentions any birthdays. Russell is working towards his "Assisting the Elderly" badge at his Wilderness Explorer's ceremony. There's no holiday stuff in this film, not even Christmas allusions during the credits. The only "magic" is where the viewer must suspend their disbelief to accept that...

I saw this as well. Was okay, but maybe if it was something as a separate animated short about two other characters, and wasn't part of a larger picture, it might have worked. It had some nice moments, but what they finally came up with was much more emotional. Though I will admit that it seemed the women in my family, have a penchant for punching or hitting their boyfriends/husbands when they act up....

Hahaha! I concur. One of the main problems I had with this movie is that the dogs were to human like, but that felt like something a dog would really say. I have already repeated that line several times to my friends, whom I watched the movie with yesterday.

everyone slams you and is rude and inappropriate?? i made a comment about this movie and yes, maybe i didnt get my exact point across, but jeeze, everyone was quick to be rude. my post was that my husband and i liked the film, but our 2 yr old wasn't interested. well then everyone had to call me stupid and say that " NO" 2 yr old has ever sat still and watched a movie. ( which is not true) and make comments that it didnt...

At least that's my guess to why this movie is getting so much praise. Don't get me wrong it's definitely worth the watch but it felt to me that there was a lot of missed potential in this film. As the concensus indicates, the best part of the movie was indeed its opening 10 minutes. From there, it feels like the movie just went downhill. The thing is that when I look around in this board, ...

They've been making quailty films every few years...
but I can agree with what you mean. Toy Story was perfect and Up? Pretty damn flawless---although I'm sure others will disagree and probably say Wall-E and what not were superior.
Still. Pixar==endless winning streak.

Yep, because the house becoming airborne after attaching baloons to it was kind of stretching credibility wasn't it?
Just enjoy the film. It works as both an emotional study AND as an action packed kids film. Flying/talking dogs do not ruin this film.

I don't really think so. The only sad part of Up were the beginning with Ellie not having the baby and then her death. Other than that, I didn't see anything really sad afterwards (nothing that would really tug at someone's heart strings).

I agree. That was one of the sweetest, most saddest things I have ever seen. The first twenty minutes, and I was already in tears.
if you acted like me and i was in your shoes i'd probably hate on me too.

Have you tried any other cartoons. Two seems a bit too young for a movie like this. Try Totoro when he is three/four, I think that would work better.

I'm not a critic but I'm willing to give it a try. As I see it the first 4 points have a lot to do with suspending disbelief and the last two are not really critiques.
Number 4 is definitely a movie clichxE9; I agree, it did feel a bit lazy.
Number 1 is unrealistic but then again the whole idea of a house floating with just a couple of 100 balloons is unrealistic. The viewer is asked to ...

I love the topic and hope it catches on. A few things first, though:
- The French villain in The Incredibles is actually "Bomb Voyage."
- I have no idea who GO-4 is, and based on the results of a few Character searches, neither does IMDb.
- I added Darla from Finding Nemo so that every movie has someone on the list. You're the original poster, so of course you can take it back off if you'd ...
