Well I think this was a case where it sounded like a good idea originally, but it just didn't work. The basic premise that the trailer showed us looked very interesting and fun, but it just wasn't what it seemed. Sometimes actors will just take roles too if they can get a decent paycheck. This is still business at the end of the day. And as far as the IMDB rating goes, apparently some people actually like this film. Why is beyond me...

i just copied and pasted whats below from an earlier post in response to someone who disliked the film (I didn't want to try and rephrase it...) i think u could take any number of interpretations but this was mine . . (other post) . i think i made another post about this but i didn't really take it as a comedy... nor did i care for the tallent (i hate clooney and bridges and that scrawny white guy main character!) i went in expecting...

First of all, I wish I could write 200+ words when I'm "lost for words", crickpetrs. 2012 and Harry Brown look like misery. Watch MWS@G if you have a weird or nifty sense of humour. It might be a waste of acting talent, but if George Clooney hadnt liked the project, put himself in it, got Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor and a whole lot of goats signed up, the movie would not have been made.

The writing, The acting you name it! I loved the scene when they were driving in the car and he hit the rock and when they where all dancing very funny I just really enjoyed this movie but we all have different tastes, What are some of your favorite movies? Love is like Oxygen

Cause while the film may indeed suck, chances are, it's not the worse movie ever. Really though, thank you for the description. I did have higher (lol!) hopes.

I'll have to say I agree entirely with you. I've had my fair share of bad films in the past and this one really ranks as one of them.
I went to see this film with 2 other friends and I had to apologize to them at the end of it for making an absolutely bad film choice for a Friday night. At least they were understanding and took it as a joke for the fact that we actually even went to see it.

Many of you will just have to see it because of the commerical trailer. But, you will be very disappointed. Wait till it hits HBO, which should be very shortly. This won't last in the theatres once word of mouth and word of mouse gets around.

Come on. The best that can be said is that it had some funny parts. It also had some pathetic parts. What it didn't have was an overarching theme that tied it all together.
The review in the local paper was so-so. I went to see it anyway because of the cast and the premise seemed funny from the commercial.
But, it was a waste of money.

It's somewhere in between. The IMDb avg. user rating is 6.9, which should tell you something. I would give it a 7.2. I wouldn't not see it because of the extreme critiques. Only thing I could add is that you MIGHT have a better chance enjoying it if you are over 50, or have an affinity or liking for the 60's/hippie era.

Well this is just a movie that looked good in the trailers, so people went the first weekend or two, but after that word got out that this was trash, people stopped going. This will still make profit sadly cause it didn't cost much to make to begin with, but the DVD will tank.

Well I definitely wouldn't call it the worst movie ever. I probably would rate it 5 out of 10. I was thoroughly disappointed. Was very disappointed in it. It lacked a theme, the writing was poor. The talent was good but it was wasted.
Maybe you would like to explain what it was that others "didn't get." Or why you thought it was brilliant.
It wasn't brilliant. It was dull. And while it had some funny moments it was a huge disappointment.
