You are not using the word "literally" correctly. If it was "literally" the guy himself, then it would ACTUALLY be the guy sitting there, and not the robot.

You're comparing habits of hundreds to billions as displayed in this movie. Even those people get out more often then those displayed in the movie. Those that play video games religious are not totally restricted from the outside world, as in the movie it was taboo to go out side with out using your surrogate. "What about you?"

I dunno... Avatar stole from the 13th Floor and Matrix. Not to mention Fern Gully, Dances with Wolves, Titanic, etc etc etc. This movie displayed some interesting Science Fiction ideas and felt original enough to me

The gunships flying overhead in the scene were a Ka-50 and a Mi-28. I guess the Russians could have been our allies, or America could have been fighting Russia. of course, there was little to indicate that the soldiers opposing America were even surrogates.

This movie was REALLY poorly written. VERY. Seeing it came from the writers of Catwoman and Terminator Salvation, I should have stayed home. Don't bother explaining this movie, because you can't.

3 things I learned from Surrogates

* When 98% of the US population suddenly gets disconnected an drop down dead, nothing nasty would happen. There were no heart surgery on real humans going on, there were no humans driving around on the street for various reasons at all (like going to a doctor, moving to another house etc). Short version: Flash Forward had it all wrong.

How to *properly* watch a movie
Published (2009-12-09 01:17:00)
I'm working in Japan at the moment and the people here are never disrespectful during the movie: completely silent, no cell phones, no crying babies, and all of them even stay to watch the entire credits out of respect which I think is going a bit overboard and it's kind of annoying trying to leave the theater when the movie ends since everyone remains sitting for the credits. That said, it's kind of dull watching comedies in...

If you're bald and your surrogate has hair, it'll still look like a wig. If your group is called the "Dreads" your leader must by definition have dreadlocks. Always kill yourself moments before your master plan concludes. That way you can just assume everything will go as planned. If You Had A Surrogate, Who...

Some of the major characters' surrogates resembled the original human, just younger, and maybe a bit more buff and better looking. I'm referring especially to Bruce Willis's character Greer, and Greer's wife.

Because he didnt employ a fat geek with long hair!
Its called Hollywood moviemaking. Although taken from a novel which some say has been butchered - its basically a no brainer action movie.
The opening sequence already made it clear that this movie is not to be taken seriously. At least thats what i prepared myself for.

1. When the super-electro-gun is fired on the helicopter everyone in it is hit. Bruce Willis is able to unplug from his surrogate at just the right moment; it's so close that he is already bleeding from his eyes/nose/ears. But then we see him immediately plug back into his surrogate and TA DA! His surrogate is completely fine! Super-electro-guns fry surrogates. Plot hole.

I have to agree. I don't even think the Steeplejack appears. I don't know if they are trying to keep it a secret or something, but there is not a single mention of him in anything I've seen about this movie. It's hardly an adaptation. It's "based" on the graphic novel, even changing the name, and completely taking the story in a different direction.

Surrogates is a dumb idea. I'm quite satisfied with my Xbox.

It was controlled by a person. The fat guy was even telling how it was some guy living at the beach somewhere, earning good money this way.
And if it was a robot, it would just be even more stupid, since why would it need to look at the screens, when it could just have the video feed input directly. The computer doesn't need to show an image on a screen, to be able to analyze it.

like in matrix you use your mind to control a "better" version of yourself. like in irobot almost every person on the world bought a robot to help them live their life.

2. When given 10 seconds to decide the future of the human race, base your decision solely on the fact that your choice means you will get to see your wife again.
