Well I do think some of the kills should be axed mainly because some weren't really necessary. I'm mainly talking about the one with the three hicks who were introduced randomly for no reason other than to be killed. And really the only way the movie should be able to have enough character development will be if that scene does get removed for that. I LOVE the violence in this movie but it could be a lot more effective if he gave us...

I hope you wait to watch the Directors Cut when it comes out. Because 25 minutes of the movie gets replaced along with 14 extra minutes. The reason the movie was just a bunch of gory scenes was because Dimension made Rob put them in because they said it needed more "juice". So this means that the Unrated version will be much more character focused.

mercury, i really think it was you particular theater/screen you saw it on. i saw H2 twice in theaters and BOTH times it was perfectly lit/viewable. there was not a scene in the entire movie that was too dark. not one. but yes on home viewing it will be a better experience for you (hopefully).
