I just recently watched it. It was way too much. Too dark and strong for a musical. Also, let me make it clear, Fame the original is not a teen movie.
Teen movies do not feature woman with no bra's on. This is a grown-up movie with teens in it. So, I want to see the newer version because it will be cleaner than the original. The original, can't watch it.

I grew up in
midtown Manhattan, and I have traces of an accent at times. The thing that defines New York City is it's diversity. I was well educated and taught the proper way to say things - and I grew up in midtown. Because I have less of an accent does that make me less of a New Yorker? You're feeding/falling into the stereotypes.
And who cares if people say in or on Long Island? Long ...

I went to see it this weekend and I did not understand all the bashing its recieved. I thought it was pretty great that the movies soundtrack had been updated to fit with the times. I thought it was alot easier to sit through than the original one that seemed to drag in places. There were some great numbers "Hit the floor" and that dance to Sam sparro's

Most of the
great songs on the soundtrack were in the film, but alot were kinda butchered :( Like they cut the "When sun appears..." verse from Naturi's "Out here on my own", it was annoying.

It was a failure money wise. When it comes to reviews I hear alot of things; Alot of people hate it, alot of people like it. The people who really like it are the ones who went into the film not trying to compare it to the original which many fans had a hard time not doing.
