Where is Wes Craven?

Then again they probably screened it for teenagers who are mainly familiar with all the formulaic crap coming out of Hollywood over the last ten years. There's probably a reasonable chance that the film isn't that bad. "Don't worry about it. They always hire bums like me for jobs like this."

I judge a story on the quality of the characters and their development, the plot, its coherence and flow, its message and delivery of that message, plus originality. All of those things will be the same from script to film, I happened to read the script for this remake and it is terrible. I don't read the script for every film I watch, but that doesn't mean if I've read a crappy script that magically it will turn into a great...

Last time i checked it was subjective. In that posters opinion he isnt a good actor. Mentioning sections of his filmography and saying you think he was good in those roles wont change the first posters opinion. He was acting as if it was an undisputable fact and his opinion is the final word. And He's NOT scary and the dude can't act. isn't acting like your opinion is indisputable fact?

Opening scene to my NOES remake

The original NOES only had 4. And not to spoil anything, but these four aren't the only ones being stalked by Freddy in mine. You'll find out more as the screenplay goes on. I have seen the writing on the wall.. Don't think I need anything at all.

I dont assume that everyone is doing that but you, I just found you as an example of many that were not. I honestly think youve got some great, interesting viewpoints and i often enjoy reading your posts. Even tho our opinion can often differ that shouldnt mean that we cant take eachothers viewpoint on board in a rounded mature way without the need to mock. I'm just going to toss out the first ones that come to mind: Audition (it's listed as 1999 but I believe it didn't come out most places until after 2000) 28 Days Later Session 9 Paranormal Activity Devil's Backbone The Others The Mist Wind Chill Dawn of the Dead (remake) Can't think of a tenth worthy of the list.

It won't be. But honestly, I'd rather the franchise died in peace than have it go through the PD treatment.

The point isn't that it's okay for the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street to be worse than the original because remaking Elm Street isn't a bad thing. The point is that the people behind the remake aren't even trying to make the remake better than the original. The script leaked and it wasn't even close being as smart or clever as the original, and it was obvious how it wasn't trying to, either....

I hate to break it to you, but this movie changes almost everything: different story, different characters.

Im definately open to this too.
Like many I grew up watching all the originals, however like few, I can admit that Freddy became joke compared to his original incarnation. You cant separate the sequels from the original as some do as theyre all Rob Englund and so you really are left with a ruined legacy.
The only way to go to even consider making Freddy scary again is to go for a new actor,...

It won't be. The producers have confirmed that they're going for an " R"-rating. Not a single remake of theirs to date has been PG-13.

As someone completely opposed to the idea of this remake (mainly due to the TERRIBLE script), I can say that I agree with you. There are more important things to bitch about than Jackie's voice, which is not as good as Englund's but not half-bad, either.
