That's completely beside the point. We weren't discussing what's financially right in this topic. The original poster was blaming Hollywood for unoriginality because Tropic Thunder has a vaguely similar concept as Three Amigos, and I was merely pointing out that if Hollywood has a problem with unoriginality (and undoubtedly it does), Tropic Thunder is not a part of it. I personally don't care for Ben Stiller, I just don't find him funny and since he was such a huge part of this movie I figured I wouldn't care for it but surprisingly I loved it! I would give it an 8 or 9.

I was 19 when I watched this and it was the most hilarious movie I'd watched in a long time. i didn't see it coming the jokes were beyond hysterical. I think it's b/c it was extremely exaggerated(sp) and unrealistic that we found it surreal. I guess men were lookinig for something they could relate to on a day to day basis e.g Pineapple express just my opinion though......oh, and you can't forget Tome cruise

I'm a woman in my 40s and thought it was hilarious too. Not sure I can shed light on why either. But I found it very clever and its willingess to "cross the line" and skewer about every group you can think of, to be very refreshing. And Robert Downey Jr made the movie for me.

Yes, his performance was one of my favorite things about the movie! He managed to be quite genuinely intimidating, which is a great achievement from a child actor. You can see he has talent; He was fantastic. And so frigging badass, too!
