If I time traveled and met...
Published (2009-11-21 08:47:00)
You have uncovered the truth: I have indeed only seen the movie. It was pretty good. Not quite down my alley, but I was entertained, and I thought it had an imaginative premise and a good execution of that premise. Bana and McAdams went well together. Thanks for recommending the book. :D But, me being me, that was the first thing my mind jumped to when there was more than one of him onscreen at the same time. I mean, it'd be like...

You've obviously only seen the movie, & not read the book :) I wont say anymore, because you should really read the book. (But it is discussed in some of the other threads on this board too.) 'No-one should impose their own perception of fulfilment on anyone else'

Disappointing and misleading title
Published (2009-11-20 20:57:00)
The title didn't make me think it's sentimental tripe, the cover did though, it's got the cover of a Harlequin novel lol... what drew me in to see it anyway is 2-fold: 1. I love anything to do with time travel, and 2. I'm a pretty sentimental guy anyway. ----- www.kittysafe.net Online Mews, Reviews, Poetry, Music, and Ideas

Chrono displacement genes????

lol I know! Everytime I look at this page and feels like watching the movie I read the description about his time travel gene and get turned off. At least if they only said it was some kind of unexplained sci-fi skill he has.. but a gene? It just sounds stupid.

Wow, this got out of hand, huh? Well...much like you (OP), I thought the book was only okay. I wasn't incredibly impressed but it was worth reading. I enjoyed the movie. It's not my new favorite or anything, but I'm glad I saw it. "Like sands through the hour glass, So are the Gilmores of our life."

Although I absolutely love the book, I respect that they made changes like this for the movie. The book and its characters are far too complex for the screen and I think if they had tried to stay true to the book it would have been a big jumbled mess.

awe but you sound like youre giving up. i think these movies are completely fictional as well, and it takes a lot of work (a lot) to stay together so long, but i do believe people can strongly love each still. I know a few families like that myself (of course it doesnt involve time travel)
if we were comparing fictional couples to real life, it seems like itd be more realistic to see '500 days...

If the book did nothing for you then the movie will be terrible.
The movie was such a choppy badly written piece of garbage, and I LOVED the book.
So if you thought the book was bad, I dint see the movie being liked by you either

I don't really see why you would ask for this here. When it comes out on DVD/Bluray, those groups are not gonna browse the IMDb boards before they release it...
Just wait until it gets to the shelves.

Violently disagree, but also respectfully. :) I felt like the film's ending cheapened the story, and left Clare waiting for Henry much more than the book did. The way I saw it in the book Clare had one visit she knew would happen and one visit only, film Clare was left always wondering, always waiting. In the book, Henry let Clare know that at the end of her life she could see him again, and have...

If you read the book you find out why. It goes into detail on the names the where thinking and why.
Alba means White, and Dawn of day. Also for Dutchess of..
They felt it was fitting because it was the only one that resulted in full term after 7 miscarriages.

You think just by reading the title alone that people will think it's an overly sentimental piece of crap?
I'm sorry, but that makes no sense.
