The same reason any parents who feared for their children's lives, hope. They had only hope that their children had not fallen victim to the terrible things going on in London. As for 28 Days Later being one of the best horror movies of all time--I think not. It was good stylistically, and very visceral, but the characters were lacking in terms of truth, unlike the characters in the sequel who all suffered from very realistic human...

the OP thinks the military is perfect. geez maybe all the fvck-ups in iraq are poor screenplay writing. the military should get their heads out of their butts and hire the OP as their comanding officer. better yet! appoint him president of the united states! - in a long enough timeline... the survival rate for everyone drops to zero -

You're right, Failedmagician - after I started the thread I rewatched '28 Days' and realized I had missed that, or at least the significance of it... Thanks for your reply!

I would not think she was a coward. As a matter of fact it woud be more understandable for her to have save herself if her husband was in a no win situation. I believe Don would have encourage to escape. I also understood why Don ran for his life when his wife was trapped. Its comes down to survival. If the situation is hopeless and no good can come out of it; if both of them were to die, why is it wrong for one of them to want to live to see...

This movie and military service?
Published (2009-07-06 17:21:00)
I was wondering if anyone considers this movie to be, in part, a commentary (right or wrong) on contemporary military service in the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq. I have not been able to serve (I am ineligible but I tried), but several of the people closest to me have served overseas. Any thoughts on this?

about the ending

i cant believe this. some people have to be spoon fed the plot because they just dont get it! OF COURSE ANDY STARTED THE OUTBRAKE IN PARIS! He was the only carrier of the virus to make it out of the island. andy like his mother was able to carry the virus without going completly mad. had andy gone mad right away, like everyone else did, he would've attacked his sister and they would've never made it to the helicopter. somewhere...

cifra2 You're clutching at straws. I too dislike when the movie is too explanatory, treating the audience like a bunch of idiots. But this is too much. Especially your sixth point. She was walking behind them, telling them how to descend to SAVE time? Doesn't it seem smarter to walk first and guide them by holding hands? That scene doesn't really strike me as a smoothly going one. The kids keep stumbling into things, scared of...

The stairs at Charing Cross Tube Station could look like something out of an MC Escher picture. http://www.globalgallery.com/prod_images/600/esc-e6.jpg You are only pronounced 2 things in life: "Man and wife" and "Dead On Arrival"

I'll get this out of the way right now: When compared to the first movie, I think this one is barely eligible to be considered a sequel. The first one was smart, emotional, and logical. This one, while it makes a great action/horror flick has very little business following up on the story that "Days" wove. While this movie was tolerable by itself, the ridiculous lengths that the writers go ...

I don't understand why Doyle let himself get roasted by the flamethrower guys when he pushed the car. Couldn't he have just used his rifle to shoot the three flamethrower guys, THEN pushed the car? It wouldn't have taken long, all of 2 seconds seeing as he was an excellent marksman. I understand it's probably just for dramatic effect, but is there something i'm missing here?

Okay, so this may seem a little nit picky, considering this is a movie, but did everyone notice the differences between the original and the new one. For example, in the original the infected would only go out at night...they were sensitive to the light. Also, I think it takes longer in the first movie to become infected. For example, Frank takes a few moments to become fully infented, as ...

I wonder how Andy was supposed to have passed the virus on when he got to France? Im thinking; 1) He got fruity with some plucky young French chick 2) He got fruity with his sister??? 3) He got fruity with the guy from Lost 4) Someone eventually decided to clean his blood riddled face, by licking him, yum 5) He had a chomp of a baguette from a passerby's Hollywood style brown shopping ...

First of all, I love zombiemovies and therefore I loved the first part. It was exciting, but most important, IT COULD BE REAL. The second part was a huge letdown. The monkeys from the first part could have written this... How in hell is it possible for the children to get outside the safe-zone? The responsetime was hours.. I mean, wtf?? And is it possible to be more stupid then these ...

Would anyone have thought Alice a coward had she been the one to abandon Don in the beginning of the movie? I'm not saying what Don did was right. I'm just curious to know what anyone's thoughts are. Again, I apologize because I didn't get to read through all of the previous threads on this topic.

I thought the beginning was the only good part about this movie. From the music to the camera angles and editing, everything just put you right into the middle of the onslaught. Especially after Don jumps from the roof to escape and gets chased for like a mile. The sense of panic, despair and all around disarray was heart stopping. Best zombie chase scene ever. Imagine the terror of seeing hordes...

I originally posted this on the message board for 28 Days Later, but figured it'd be appropriate to post here too... First off, let me say that although I am a big fan of both 28 Days & 28 Weeks Later, I realize that both films have some major flaws - especially the latter (Don being so easily able to gain access to the containment unit where his UNGUARDED wife is being held, for example.) ...
