"Guns don't kill people Rappers do, I saw it on a documentary on BBC2" GLC. It's never the laws that are at fault provided they are of service to the majority, the blame is in the application. And usually this is the governments fault when it fails to change soon enough, not always but often enough. Kriswest I'd like to say your common sense approach to the reality of the world has embiggened my respect for...

Joke of the Day

There was a lady who discovered that her husband had been cheating on her for quite some time. She decided a divorce wasn't good enough, she wanted revenge. The first thing she did was drug his drink and dragged him out to the garage after he passed out. When he woke up, he had his dick in a vice and there was a hacksaw sitting right beside him. He looked up at his wife and said, "So, this is what you are going to do, cut my...

I think its just a trend that love has waned and sexual freedom has waxed. I do think within the next few generations sexual appetite will give way to something that creates true bonds of love. If nothing else STDs will pull the reigns in Nothing like a case of the unremovable itchies and pains to wake a person up.

Mine is utilitarian and not based on a duty to the state above and beyond what the state can do for the public. In that sense we are disagreeing only on governmental form, economics, well we both hate those imposters just the same. For me of course: "Democracy is the worst system except all those other that have been...

I had more money in two accounts but it would be too much trouble for them to move money over from a savings account or extend my overdraft to cover it. Or remove the charge after I complained thus incurring £800 in total. Also it's not just me it's 8 million British...

Pav, I see. I did not mean to suggest that one or two people alone from ILP couldn't make worthwhile discussion with a guest of their choice. I just thought it would be better to invite a guest for discussion with say 10 people from ILP who each have a burning desire to talk to him or her.

I mentioned this Mind Lamp to a few people the other day, explained that it is a lamp that changes color based on your thoughts and feelings, and even explained a bit of the science behind it. . . they were just like, "oh, cool". None of them asked me for a detailed explanation of how it works or was interested in talking about it. Makes me wonder, how can the average person be exposed to ...

Yeah it assumes that emission/absorption potentials are deterministic not probabilistic. Other than that no for a high school---->college level text its quite informative well done. Farsight's contention is that the time/distance model is based on only time really rather than motion and so inherently prone to error. Since time is relative it's metric only applies in one frame of reference. All...

I'm going to have to object to your first conclusion, that Adam's mode of being was representative of God's desire for us to love. It is an appealing notion, and one that works its way into a plethora of religious discourses, but I think it stems more from interpretive extrapolation than actual symbolic presence within scripture. Firstly, I know that later in the bible there is talk of God ...

Hey Pav, Athiests did not create lack of God. Just for argument's sake, I'll argue against that. But first I gotta go do the reply rounds. Then I'll finish reading the OP.

Seems pretty clear to me that if you legally owe someone money, then they have a right to pursue legal action to get it, assuming you are not paying them according to the prearranged terms.

I agree no nudity for people under 16. Social Sciences might have been a better Forum for this, but I am fine with keeping it here. If you want, I'll move it. Anyway, the photos were definitely porn and definitely illegal. I think that if you really want to do something like that and claim it is, "Art," then do a drawing, and not one of a real live person, either.

My take on it is that Jung made no secret of his couple of significant episodes of, what sounds like psychotic depression. He wrote quite a bit about these experiences, and got a lot of insight during these periods. Freud and Einstein also had at least one similar episode during their lifetimes ... so, it seems that episodes of temorary insanity may go hand in hand with extreme genius!
