7 weeks post-op tired & achey
Published (2009-11-19 20:03:00)
It does just take a long time to feel well. They were not kidding when they said 6 months to a year. I had a turning point around the end of my 5th month.

Weariness Post-op
Published (2009-11-20 17:33:00)
I went back to work 1/2 days at 6 weeks and I remember thinking that I had zero energy at that time. I'd leave after 4 hours and wonder if I had it in me to make the drive home (30 min's). By the time I was back full-time at 8 wks, I felt much better. I honestly think that everyone is different but a minimum of 6 weeks is needed just for the basic healing and recovery.

Day 5 post op from Da Vinci
Published (2009-11-20 16:42:00)
Hey Shirl, I am so glad you are feeling great and had a successful surgery. Isn't it amazing how good you feel after the DaVinci. I told my surgeon (gyn/onc) at my 2 week post (kind was depressed because I wanted to go back to work) that I wish I would have had a TAH so I knew I had surgery. That is how good I felt. Make sure you do not over do it. Very easy to do IMO after having this type of surgery.

Hi Bebs,
I am six weeks post op and have been cold since they brought me back from the operating room. My feet are always freezing...well actually my entire body.I have always been the person that could walk outside in the middle of a wisconsin winter without a jacket......I am usually always hot!
I sit with blankets, heating pad and the heat on high.
I know that ...

I understand completely I have had these moments too. I am not totally healed yet so I am still in pain sometimes but in between there are these great moments of no pain for the first time in a long time and I just want to scream YESSSSS lol.

Welcome home!
For gas try taking gas-X, walk around as much as you can tolerate (don't over do it) that should help pass it. just keep in mind, it is "normal" to have gas and gas pains for a few days.

I had bleeding and discharge for about 6 weeks after surgery. Unless it becomes heavy or you have discharge that becomes green or foul smelling (sorry to be graphic) I wouldn't be worried.
Your body is going through many changes and has ALOT of healing to do right now. I am almost 11 weeks post-op and every day I feel something different than I did the day ...

Right now it's the 'morning after'. I have my nice little calf massager thingies on and some extra oxygen because I've been having sharp pains just below my lungs that make me pant instead of taking deep breaths. There are no secrets around here... the nurse assured me that I will feel much better when I start passing gas. Lovely! All in all, I feel like I am ...

Hi (((BUREAU))) Are you asking if moodiness and stiffness and joint pain are symptoms of low estrogen? For me they are - I don't really get hot flashes but get very bad joint and bone pain if my estrogen level is too low.

TVH> Day two post op. Surgery went well. Doctor said my uterus was very enlarged but did not have to cut me. I am really sore but up and around, home and taking pain meds. Doctor said to take them for at least 4-5 days. Can't take any NSAIDS because I have Crohn's disease. But all it well. DH is driving me absolutely nuts. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes....

I strongly suggest you get Dr. Vliet's book called: Screaming to be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Suspect but Doctors Still Ignore. You will be amazed at all the benefits of estrogen in your body. There are links to fibromyalgia, migraines, depression, bone health, heart health, brain health, etc....
Did you get your hormone levels tested in these blood tests?...

Hi Tamara, I know you are glad that the surgery is over . . . now here comes the hard part, your recovery. It will be fine as long as you remember to take care of yourself and don't push yourself. Everyone has difference pain levels from our different surgeries and every one recovers differently.
I was very fortunate and didn't take any pain medication. I've ...

My LAVH was yesterday. I was very calm and everything went very smoothly and I am back home today. I am amazed at how good I feel and I can't help but think that being prepared mentally has made a tremendous difference ~ Thank you Hyster Sisters

My surgery was yesterday (LAVH) and I'm feeling pretty good! I got to keep an ovary, thank goodness. Pain is well under control with morphine and Toradol. I haven't eaten anything yet, but I'm considering some oatmeal.
I'll post full details in the Hyst-Story section sometime today. Thanks to all of my sisters for the prayers and support!

They will take everything out through the vagina. My uterus was so big that they had to cut it into 3 pieces and then pulled it out. They had to make sure that none of the endo spread and in my op report it says that no endo was spread through the cavity. I had a vaginal cuff and so will you. I think those are the only stitches you will have. When I was in the ICU ...

I am home from the hospital today. I'm 37 years old and had a LAVH/BSO on 10/12. I felt great yesterday, but I think it was because of all the drugs. Today, I'm doing ok, but I'm in a bit more discomfort today. The incisions on my stomach aren't bothering me its the lower pelvic area discomfort. I'm assuming this is the area of the cervix and uterus. I've been keeping ...
