Thanks. Also, found this while googling for solutions on number-renaming batches. Not sure how useful it'll be but it's there for someone to look at: http://www.computing.net/answers/programmi...mber/17705.html Update: This also.... http://photo.net/digital-darkroom-forum/004cpk (scroll towards the bottom) This post has been edited by RevMarzikins : Today, 03:09

Remove duplicates in playlist
Published (2009-11-23 23:42:00)
Aha was searching for "duplicates" in online SDK help and nothing came up. Was trying it with pfc::list_t<metadb_handle_ptr> tracks; tracks.remove_duplicates_t(); but can't find working parameter for remove_duplicates_t. What should it be? Or is it simply wrong?

QUOTE (greynol @ Nov 24 2009, 07:38) as of V0.99pb5, the path has been stripped from %s and %d. Does this mean that we would have to use the registry (REG command) in our batch file? Do you know whether removing the path from these parameters is a bug, or intended behaviour? It seems quite a hindrance to external compressors, certainly if you want to do anything a little clever. It's been a while since I messed around...

As the remove_duplicates_t() function declaration shows, you'd need to supply a comparator. Well just use this... CODE metadb_handle_list tracks; tracks.remove_duplicates();

MP4 = M4A ?

It should. M4A is literally just a renamed MP4 with only an audio stream. Maybe you'll have to rename it, as I believe .M4A isn't at all part of the official MPEG standard, just something Apple decided to do to differentiate audio from video. This post has been edited by Sumguy21 : Today, 01:09

I don't know about nero in particular, but any good encoder should use only slightly more bits to encode a mono source in stereo than in mono. If the original is in stereo then you would need to first dowmix it to mono before encoding. Edit: I guess you were already aware of this, so sorry if I didn't help. EAC + MAREO. That will allow you to rip only once and encode in as many different lossless and lossy as you like. I personally use Windows Media 9.2 Lossless which goes to my HTPC Media Server, and Windows Media 9.2 Standard (lossy) 128kbps 2-pass which goes on my various portables.

I agree that there aren't any practical advantages by erasing the tags. However, I still think that Gracenote knows a bit to much by tying my whole collection together with a unique ID (extdata).

QUOTE (Sylph @ Nov 14 2009, 20:06) I was wondering what is generally considered the equivalent of the CBR 320 MP3 setting in AAC world? In terms of the highest setting over which you shouldn't go and pass into self-parody waters? I would say that CBR320 mp3 is a long way past that mark. Most samples reach transparency in the ~200 kbps region or are "killer samples" that often ...
