Interesting day yesterday...

The taste of the game is directly related to it's forage. If all it eats is sagebrush, guess what it will taste like? Cornfed venison is darned tastey and doesn't have the 'gamey' taste of the deer I've tasted in TX or CA. As for that freezer comment, unless you got a BIG family... you ain't eating a 180# whitetail in one sitting. And a 1500# elk? Fagedaboudit! I know people in MI that eat roadkilled deer...

Not sure if you are looking at a 5.3L or 4.8L? This article helped me immensely. If the engine is assembled, about the only way to find out is to remove the spark plugs, find a piston at TDC and using a flashlight and a keen eye and suitable probes, look and feel across the piston top for the edges of a dish as pictured below. If it is a dished piston, it is a 5.3L. If it is a flat top piston, then the engine is a 4.8L. Courtesy of PERA;...

new grill
Published (2009-11-08 18:31:00)
It's very unique and well done but I would frame the entire perimeter with a contrasting color. Even if you cut some 1" wide strips of the same material, paint them black, and line the perimeter of the grill. In addition, I would paint the grill a darker shade of gray. I like it because it's unique.

WTB S130 2+2 or turbo flywheel
Published (2009-11-06 17:55:00)
well I got a free clutch for a 2+2 and I am trying to make it work. I guy near me said he has one for 60 shipped or 40 picked up I saw autozone had them for 60 and the throw out bearing is 30. The clutch I got free is from napa. Thanks for the suggestions I was just hoping to get what I need cheaper and get some clutter out of other peoples garages. The clutch kit I got came with clutch pressure plate and alignment tool. Napa caries Zoom. List...

Koni Shock Adjustment Help Needed
Published (2009-11-08 14:32:00)
I believe Tom is running 300ZXT CV's. I think that makes it less likely that the halfshaft is the culprit, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull it apart and check for problems too. Could also be a CV bottoming issue as John suggested, but I seem to remember Tom went to some length to have the CV shafts shortened to prevent that problem. I don't remember him saying whether he ran it through the travel by hand to feel for a bind...

measure them up do some math, its most likely gonna be 1.5 coils. Just save up for a set of good lowering springs and if the stock springs are in that good of shape, sell them.

A collar that is too long can be compensated for by adjusting the slave rod approximately 1/4" shorter.
A collar that is to short may run out of rod length, or throw in the bellhousing opening to adequately release the clutch at some point.
As your girlfriend once said: "Longer is Better"
I made the mistake of a too-long collar and simply was too lazy to take the tranny back down......

The build of a 240Z by 310z
I first saw a 240Z in 1970 when a neighbor purchased one. I was 6 yr. old. I thought WoW that is cool. All the neighbors were gathered around checking it out.
Fast forward to 19 yr. old and my mom had a friend that had a 240Z that had been garaged at home and work through the 1970. Then ...

Best idle or lowest idle? Last time I worked on a set of triples that had an exceptionally high idle had bent throttle shafts. Pretty easy to diagnose, just put a flow meter on both barrels of one carb. If they are way different you have bent shafts. Obviously there are other internal engine problems that could cause this but if you are sure it's a carb issue, this is what I would look for.

Axles are definitely too short to pull out of the cages like that. My pass side axle did that (custom cobbled 88SS VLSD axle) on me twice under power until I added a 1/2 spacer between the comp flange and the outer 1/2 shaft cup cage.
Sorry if this reply is off topic, just thought I'd offer my experience up with too short axles...

Hmm... internet rumour says spraying hydrocarbon propellant aerosol (deoderant, flyspray, any good potato gun stuff) into the drum body via the hole to adjust the star wheel, then stuffing a match in there, will remove the drums at greater or lesser velocity dependant on volume of vapourous hydrocarbon.
Never done it myself, but ...
