It looks like the expansion of 518 west of Kirby Dr is making slow but steady progress. I am not sure, but it seems like this might be done in stages. For example, the current activity seems to be going on between Kirby and Half Moon Bay/Southern Trails Drive. Not much west of that yet. What I'm seeing is the big drain pipes are laid and buried, and a line of new power poles now stand ...

There is an incident that happened in Houston, Texas at an Army Camp called Camp Logan which is now the site of Memorial Park and a residential neighborhood. This incident has forever after been referred to as the "Mutiny of 1917" and at the heart of it was Houston's Jim Crow laws of the times. I have no judgment about what happened, who was involved and what its outcome was. My interest is...

I'm having someone from Brink's come to my house next week to give me some quotes on reactivating and updating a very basic existing Brink's system. I think I already know what I'm interested in adding, but didn't see an existing thread on this topic here, and so thought I'd ask generally if anyone had any advice when it comes to getting/updating a home security system. My questions have ...

IPB Image Well, well, well, Mr. Finger has let the cat outta the bag. Hopefully this one comes to fruition. So any comments on the style from what we can see?? 37 stories is pretty significant. Especially for a downtown residential rental tower. If the occupancy is absorbed quickly, then I think that we will see more towers sooner rather than later--and I would not be surprised if many of them...

I know this has been talked about over the last few years but I just wanted to say that downtown Houston's skyline is looking 10xs better these days without those tacky looking white Christmas lights on top of the buildings. The blue ones on top of the Amegy bank building look so good. It seems that some of the letters sent by some members on here, including myself may have done the trick. ...

Hello all. I haven't been on this forum in a while and just wanted to ask a question. Does anyone know what happened to the downtown traffic lights being synchronized. I remember Mayor White enforcing that about 4 years ago. I was just downtown for the first time in a long time and noticed that the lights are no longer synchronized. It's very frustrating too because the stop n go is hard on...

Tropical Storm Gustav has formed in the Caribbean. Obviously, it is too far away to be of concern, but several of the computer models have it aiming towards the Gulf. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_a...l?5da y#contents And, if you believe in the theory that the best predictor is putting your money where your mouth is, the oil markets edged up $0.52 on concerns the storm will ...

So my Comcast internet connection went out Friday morning. It was working fine on Thursday night when I went to bed, but Friday morning it was dead - the digital phone worked fine but the internet was dead. I went to work and came home Friday evening and the situation was the same, so I power-cycled the modem and reset the airport express and the damn thing still didn't work. I called ...

The contract with my listing agent expired August 31, my home in North Norhill didn't sell after 7 months on the market. There was around 30 showings, one open house, two price reductions, but the only offer was one from a potential flipper at $50K under asking price. Feedback from the showings was pretty limited, most didn't even fill out the survey, the ones that did were fairly vague on ...

This looks to be the next storm to hit the Gulf coast (Hanna not a threat).
