its probably a bad oil pressure sensor. maybe it is shorting out, and when the car is turned off and on, it sees a big spike and mellows out until it decides to throw a bad signal I would look over the engine bay when its cold, under the intake manifold, above the oil filter, and see if anything looks damaged. its a pain in the butt, but may save you some money glad my ghetto "oil pump check" method worked lol

welcome to the forum gratz on your first car and happy to see its a honda.
first off dont be afraid to use google and/or the search button at the top to look for a solution to your problem.
second, do you hear anything when you hit the button? like a spinning noise? or anything? if you dont hear anything i would say maybe the switch is bad

most likely the brake light switch is bad. depress teh brakes. do you have brake lights? if not, the brake light switch is bad. replacing it is easy but if you do it wrong the brake pedal will be slightly depressed all the time(which is bad).
another possibility is you spilled coffee or soda at one point in time on the center console. this ...

Usually around here I see the 97's Si or something like that for sale all the time, but they never go above $2,500 in pristine condition, so I'm not sure what it's like where you're at, but the Del Sol is really cheap around here, depending on what you did to it, someone would either think it is worth more, or worth less, depending on how knowledgable the person you're talking to is. New NGK spark plugs.
New Bosch plug wires.
Spectre Short Ram Intake.
Spectre Filters.
Never been in an accident.
DETAILS:: Somewhat of a project car.
