Good luck on this one. This is a model that a lot of people would like to have. I'm surprised no one has done this one yet. Boba Fett's rifle is another one I'm shocked it isn't out there?

The outdoor environment demands compromises beyond the use of actual vegetation. One thig almost universally accepted is the rail size, It is grossly over scale and needs to be for strength, even if you are doing R/C and don't need it for electrical conductivity. Likewise the outdoor environment gives us situations we don't face indoors. A trestle with over scale members ends up looking better than one that is strictly scale, but...

Don't apologize, take your time. We understand about build time. Heck, I've made substantial progress on my big Galactica, but haven't had a chance to take photos and post! We'll be here waiting.

Here I cut the foundation walls from 1/2" foam board. I have done this a few times with good results. It's not my favorite for any stone or brick wall but I like a challenge. Here you can see some guide line markings for my mortar joints. I don't know why I do this because I hardly ever stay with them. Here you can see the cement block carving. I just dragged a tooth pick slightly not too deep because it will pinch the foam...

A gentle reminder for those who don't know (or may have forgotten). This has turned into a me-too thread. We prefer that you send model requests via PM to the person who has them. This helps us avoid clutter on the board. Thanks for understanding.

Guys, you may have noticed that I have slacked off a bit on this build. There is a good explanation for this and it is not what you may think, it is an attempt to do two projects at once.No not another diorama but something that I always promised myself to do and that is to write a little online booklet on how I rigged my 1/72 scale HMS Victory ship model.Right now there is precious little out there for the inexperienced rigger on the proper...

First off, I am a west coast modeller with a passion for the Pennsy. I just happened to find a PRR related website and found a passenger car roster from the early 1950s. I did not find those Athearn car numbers in the series. Cars in the series 4925, 31, 35, 50, and 51 are designated "Passenger Baggage."
Here is the website for the Pennsy roster: http://prr.railfan.net/passenger/Pas......

Upon completion of this "Keepers of the Flame" project I plan to organize this thread into a more comprehensive book -like form ,concentrating upon the order of build ,using both text and pictures in their proper sequence.I will permanently post an album of pics of this diorama under construction.
Because I am limited to a 1,000 pics on my photobucket album, I have had to on occasion delete ...

Okay, you need to clarify: Death Star, or Death Star II?
The reason I ask is that there is already a fine paper model of the Death Star on the net, but no model of the Death Star II exists.

woot! woot! that is one fine looking coal mine.
I almost thought that you had adapted a new river mine for it for a second, but I gotta say those wooden supports actually make it look more realistic than the walthers kit

That is stunning... It makes my attempt at the model look like a pile of junk, and mine came out pretty decent.

Thamk you for the comments!
After a long pause'm back with more photos of the end of the first phase of construction of this great cathedral.
There were no difficulties so far and most of the pieces are by paste. Even so for a model that is almost all by pasting I think that is not bad.
